No it is not. Somebody always dies on me while crossing a river.
Once, while crossing a river I broke an axle, losing several days, which caused one of my oxen to starve.
That happened to me a least one time per game before I started paying for ferries when the conditions were bad and at larger landmarks. That was a new thing I started doing, I never paid for them as a kid. I guess as an adult I got more responsible sensibilities, lol. It's kinda like paying for insurance.
I was a cheap kid.....
I still don't buy insurance.
