We have ever only had two national anthems. The current national anthem we now adopt was written in 1978 and it was put together by Pa. Benedict E. Odiase. The first one was ”Nigeria We Hail Thee” and in all sincerity, I think I prefer it, because of the deep lying meanings we have in that anthem but the current one we use now, I prefer the second stanza to have been the first stanza. We just seem to have things twisted, which kind of explains our state as a nation.

I still believe in Nigeria. Our set of leaders can’t make me lose focus on this beloved country. We shall get there. It might take a lot of sweat, efforts and huge sacrifices but we will get there. We just need the right approach to take us to our desired haven.

Happy Independence Day, Nigeria. You have abundance of resources but due to mismanagement and bad leadership, you have been left in a state of poverty. You have quite a lot to feed nations but you are not even self-sufficient yourself. It hurts to see you in this state but you will get there.

Once we have sorted out our human lapses, only then can we do what we are supposed to do, to take Nigeria to the height we so desire. Character flaws, greed and selfishness have eaten so deep into the system created by those in authorities. All the set of rules only tilt in their favour while the general populace struggle to make ends meet. They seem to forget what it means to take an oath. A lot of people don’t realize that the pledge they recite is actually binding so anytime they do something contrary to what they pledge, they are bound already.

We only have ourselves to blame and when we start seeing the good in ourselves, only then can we be motivated to do what is necessary. We need to first change ourselves as human because only when we become better humans can we positively affect this country in general.

God bless Nigeria.

Happy Independence

Thank you for your time.

I can see both the aspect in your post @olawalium. While you trully proud to be a nigerian but at the same time you are quite upset with mismanagemnt at political level. Its very true the corruption at the top have spoiled manybtop nation. People get blind once they reach to a position and hardly xare about any one....you will surprised to k ow we have similar condition here too....the leaders are not sparing animal foods called husk and rakes millions of mullah through it.

It is so sad that you see them climb that position of authority and they suddenly turn into another set of humans. You never really know the true character of a human until they taste power. Corruption is so steep and yet they still flaunt it. It is so annoying. They have no regard for the rule of law. I know we will both see the best of our country soon, by God's Grace.

More or the less it is the common man fault of choosing such inefficient leader and unable to see their true chatacter. We only see the power behind them but never cares the worth they are bringing in....who get time to analyze...jus blew with the wind

This is deep. At the same time, most people are blinded with loyalty to these so called ineffective leaders. Once they throw few money to their face, they get blinded and elect them in. So sad.

Here many things are settled with few peg of drinks or quarter bottle mostly to the bacward community...election is now a days about

It's so sad this is what people have reduced themselves to and politicians are leveraging on it. Here, just few handful of rice with a sachet of oil, then they have their votes.

When Nigeria heard of Africa's biggest oil producing country, it seems to me in the first place. Besides, the reputation of the country is for movies and music. But the country is also known to many for corruption. But beyond this knowledge there is a long history of Nigeria's heritage and culture if the people and the government were aware of this country then the country could have been better if it did not use the resources to keep the post behind.

Yes, we are known of oil but that is because the government only choose to focus on just oil. Our land is so rich for agriculture and yet nothing is being done to bring about that increment in that area.

Nigeria is known for many things because we are dynamic people, not just music and movies and this is why the government should do everything to put our resources to use, so we can have every citizen become a better person which will drastically reduce the corrupt practices some perpetuate.

If a country is centered on oil only then it is very difficult to move the country. If there is more to it, then if they have to concentrate then they will be able to overcome the different types of heritage, if they think then it is possible to move.

Of course, with total dependence on oil, there would be trouble when the price of oil fluctuates and this is why they should diversify. We have timbers, coals, bitumen, and our land is so rich in Agriculture and yet they focus only on oil. So annoying.

Nigeria can be the great nation wr want it to be only if those in powers gather themselves in a plane, they be themselves pilot and then the plane crash

Hahahaha even if these current crop of leaders die as you wish, the seeds they have left in the hearts of incoming generation would still put us in the same state. We need to work on being a better person first. We need to understand what it means to serve.

I think there is enough resources in Nigeria, but these resources are not properly arranged so their condition is but one country and the government are able to change the country. But the corruption in the country where they are facing the corruption in front of the country is enough to lag behind one country.

Resources can be used to take a country to great heights if management is serious without any personal use.
A good leader can inspire the whole nation if he is sincere in his work.
