In the context of technology, I have a good subject to share :
New technologies to help smokers quit (In France) :
Health Minister Caroline Flint presented a new service of the National Health Services (NHS) for the fight against tobacco. Smokers who want to stop their tobacco addiction will be able to receive personalized follow-up and support through written messages and e-mails. This service is intended for smokers who do not want a face-to-face meeting or whose place of residence or working hours do not favor a personalized meeting with the relevant services.
For example, a smoker can easily call the NHS smokers helpline and sign up for the Together program. After setting a quit date, the patient receives a support package, text messages, e-mails and personalized calls at key points during the treatment. This new program is flexible and patient-friendly. If the attempt fails, the patient will be offered a new trial at a desired date.
Since its inception, the Tobacco Control Service has helped more than 300,000 smokers quit their addiction with one-to-one personal counseling or group meetings. However, this system was not appropriate for everyone. The Minister of Health is pleased with this new service that uses new information technologies to adapt to the greatest number and will reduce tobacco-related diseases.
Very good and smart initiative, certainly this technology will help many smokers to get rid of this poison.
