Guess who interviewed me yesterday for NowThis? An associate producer named Madison Paglia.
I don't know where this interview will appear, but she did ask me for my name. I think she wanted to pick my brain to understand Bitcoin, because she confessed she hasn't sent a Bitcoin transaction before.
Anyone on social media is familiar with the NowThis content. It's fast-paced and only exists on social media. Here's a still shot from Madison's noob Bitcoin videos that are on the NowThis Money Facebook page:
At any rate, Twitter remains to be the one of the best places to score interviews with journalists. Join me as I break down the process of getting an interview from a mainstream-ish social media news site.
I spend a lot of time on Twitter scanning for crypto news. I find Steemit posts on Twitter also. In my Twitter profile, my header is "Founder of Bitcoin School KC". Anyone who has attended my classes knows that I spend most of the time talking about Steem. Bitcoin is still the brand that people know, so I decided to name my school that.
Ok, a producer of NowThis media found my article, Cryptocurrencies Are The Craft Beers of Money on Hackernoon and she followed the link to my Steemit blog. From there she found me on Twitter and this is the tweet she sent me a few days ago:
I answered her right away (producers and journalists will answer the people who respond first, so timing is everything.) From there, I arranged to do the interview by phone right away.
Because she is a newbie to Bitcoin, I have to admit, it was hard for me to talk on her level. However, I could see that she was trying to find an angle to teach mainstream noobs about Bitcoin. Earning crypto is perhaps the easiest and most effective way to learn crypto. This is what happened to me, so I brought up Steemit. I told her that it's social media that pays in Steem which is converted to Bitcoin. Anyway, I got her attention. Then I casually mentioned that I could put her in contact with the CEO of Steemit, Ned Scott. I described Ned as a cool crypto millennial who is very easy on the eyes. She seemed to perk up a bit when I said that. Her target audience for her new series/channel, NowThis Money are millenials, so naturally, everything I talked to her about was geared towards this. I also mentioned @heiditravels too, as she seems perfect for this type of stuff.
Madison asked lots of questions, to which I went into way more detail than necessary. She definitely seemed overwhelmed by the vastness of the crypto world. But I think she will do a great job of teaching noobs about Bitcoin, and possibly Steem. If she could do one of those fast-paced videos about Steemit, and plaster that puppy all over mainstream social media, this would be great...(btw, how is the sign-up bottleneck coming along, Steemit Inc.?)
Realize a lot of you aren't on Facebook, but if you are, you can see the newbie Bitcoin videos she's made so far: https://www.facebook.com/NowThisMoney/
They're pretty good overall, not perfect, but they do a decent job of introducing mainstream to Bitcoin. Here's the Facebook page for this:
As a community, would could visit this video, and give our support......in order not to be spammy, we could put Steem GIFs in there as a response...thereby getting people interested....or something along the lines of that. Ideas? We could share Madison's videos with our Facebook followers, and maybe link to this Steemit article? That seems like perhaps a good idea.....lots of cool social media ideas to do! What are your creative ideas to weave ThisNow Money Facebook videos to us?
If you're on Facebook, let's share Madison's video! Maybe Madison will join Steemit soon!
Score! Nice work on following through and landing the interview. Better still on bringing Madison up to speed with crypto. But it does go to show that crypto is still very low on the radar when a social media channel focused on money didn't know or understand what crypto is.
Great work! The more that we can promote Steemit, the better. I hope that she joins as a result of speaking with you! Resteemed!

Well done! Shared on FB! :)
To me you are the face of steemit. You keep making great moves and we are only learning. I hope she joins the family soon. Well done big time.
thanks I appreciate that. Steemit has turned me from a blogger into an investor. That's the real difference, and it takes a while to make this shift.
Yes! get the word out for sure it's going to help this platform. Good job!
