There’s this wild myth that mixing tomatoes and cucumbers is a crime against nutrition because cucumbers contain an enzyme called ascorbinase, which supposedly destroys vitamin C in tomatoes. Sounds serious, right? Well… not really.
🔹 Losing a bit of vitamin C won’t kill you – Yeah, ascorbinase does its thing, but it doesn’t turn your tomato into a useless red blob. And let’s be real, if your health depends on this one salad, maybe it’s time to rethink your whole diet. 😆
🔹 Tomatoes have a secret weapon – Their acidity slows down the enzyme, so even if some vitamin C is lost, it’s not instant and not all of it.
🔹 Nutrition isn’t a math equation – If you eat a variety of veggies, you’re getting vitamin C from plenty of sources like bell peppers, oranges, and parsley. This one salad isn’t gonna make or break your vitamin intake.
So, if you wanna enjoy tomatoes and cucumbers together – go for it! Don’t fall for the „toxic salad” conspiracy. And if you wanna be extra safe, just add the cucumber right before eating instead of letting the salad sit in the fridge for hours. 😎
