Breaking Free From Our Dedication To LIES! ✨

in #ocd4 years ago

How many lies did you gobble up today (without even realizing it?)

Wait what?
We are alive in a world where there seems to be waves of confusion pouring over us in an ocean full of misinformation as we try our best to stay afloat. 🙈

(Hey look, I am floating by using a boat to help me stay above the water!)

🙌What is worth our dedication?

🙌What's worth our time and energy?

🙌What's worth our loyalty and attention?

Can you answer those questions for yourself? 🙄

I believe we're living through a transitionary time where people will start to "wake up" and in consequence, start to question everything that doesn't make sense to their own world, experience and feelings (and that'll be a long list!) ☑️

In reaction to questioning what doesn't feel right to each and every one of us comes those waves of confusion and existential crises of "what is true?" and/or "what is real?"

I've seen people deeply struggling to figure out what holds meaning to them by rejecting the "old ways" and "stories of the past" and experiment with complete abandonment for "popular culture" and "status quos". I kind of picture it like stepping into a pool that was much deeper than you anticipated and doing a little unexpected sink to the bottom for a second before promptly kicking into survival mode and coming back up for air.

Change is challenging. Change requires effort. Change is uncomfortable!

It's much easier to turn a blind eye and naively stay numb to the truth by believing all of the lies and all of the stories passed onto us.

I have to tell you that one of the first times I was forced to face a lie that was paramount to the foundation of my own existence, I had a full on meltdown! 🔥🙈

My brain could not equate what I was trying to present it with. My mind searched frantically through all of my experiences and memories and information to try to find a solution that it could not produce.🔥

I thought I was going to die. (It's 💯 dramatic to be told something your whole life, that you base your identity off of, that's a big fat lie!)

It felt like my brain was going to war with my body and that there was no way I could ever wake up another day and face the new truth that was so different to everything I fully embodied as true for my whole life.

(That's what we call a mind___ ladies and gents.)*

For example, imagine this moment...

Past belief/popular culture narrative that you have been told your whole life:

🔥 "You need to eat dead animals to survive and be healthy." (Says everyone from teaches to authors to TV show hosts growing up)...

"Drink your milk so you have strong bones"...🙈

"Eat your chicken/cow/pig so you get your protein" ...🙈

"Here's your chocolate filled with dairy to get your calcium in a treat"...🙈 (Meant for a baby cow FYI)

"Here's your birthday cake with eggs, milk, butter"...(It's not necessarily healthy but you get your calcium and protein in there, so all good.)🙈

"Here's Christmas dinner revolving around a huge dead bird splattered in butter from
a cow"
(Don't be rude, eat your food!)...🙈

Imagine, learning and knowing deeply in your heart that the above is not true! Yes sure, there is no debating it's a popular belief but it is not true!

How does that information rock your world?

As an animal lover and an empath I struggled like hell over that one. Wait... If animals don't have to die for us, why the @#$& are we killing them then? 😭

I resisted these questions and found allll of the excuses and my heart would not let me escape the evidence until I finally gave in and researched "the other side" (and I researched DEEPLY to support my bias which was popular belief...)

I thought "it can't be wrong (AKA a lie) because otherwise I ate animals for no reason for my whole life!" And of course, I didn't want to believe that to be true because that's absolutely horrible... 🤯😭

It turns out that giving up eating animals made me:
❤️ Healthier (my bloodwork improved incredibly and I went from anemic to better than normal)
❤️ Stronger/ more fit (I have a lot more stamina)
❤️ More emotionally stable/balanced (my hormones balanced from giving up hormone-infused animals-- imagine that!)
❤️ More reliable (my mood/energy improved so I became much better at showing up in all ways)
❤️ More compassionate and loving (I actually would never have managed a long term relationship with my old diet and now I've been married almost 7 years!)
❤️ My skin improved (my skin was the worst and now I rarely have any new issues and my skin is healing from the past)
❤️ More passionate (I found my absolute 🔥 by learning to cook compassionate, cruelty free, healthy food!)
❤️ Dream job (my dream job came along with opening up my passion!)
❤️ More cognitive ability to question other things that didn't seem right to me!

... And this list could go on and on but my point is that 🔥I believed a lie for 20+ years that prevented me from living what is definitely my best life! ☑️

We have mainstream media flooding us with images and messages telling us to feed our children (who eat what we tell them to and then develop habits and addictions based of that information) more dairy and more animal parts to ensure they stay healthy (and no one wants their kids to be unhealthy) YET we have real medical evidence coming out from people with the same degrees and education who have refused these lies showing children having extreme illnesses and diseases CAUSED by those very foods we are being told we need to survive.

There are SO MANY EXAMPLES OF THINGS WE BELIEVE THAT ARE NOT TRUE!

That by definition, is a lie.

There is so much misinformation out there selling us these lies that are causing us pain and suffering because we believe blindly and follow the masses.

🔥What happens when we question our reality?

🤯 What happens when we say we're not just going to do something because everyone else is?

I can tell you that of course I didn't want to believe eating animals was just what it is... Eating animals. I wanted to see it as necessary for survival... 🙈

I didn't want to show up for myself and for the environment and for the animals. I didn't want it to be hard or even remotely to cause any effort. I didn't want to stop eating the foods I loved (and I'm stubborn AF!)

The thing is, by allowing myself to question and to come up with MY OWN DECISION FOR MY OWN LIFE, (not anyone else telling me) I have reached a completely new level of living that I am immensely grateful for.

✨So question things that don't make sense to you!

✨Dedicate yourself to your own causes (whatever they are to you!)

You're not stuck! You have your own mind and your own ability to research and learn! ❤️

We're entering a new wave, one where we do not need to be fighting to stay above the water! One where we get to be part of the writing of our own story! ✨

What's something that you want to challenge today? There's no better time to start than now! 😘

Take control of your information! ❤️❤️❤️

I think there are people waking up but the vast majority are sound asleep! We would rather cosy up to lies then live the uncomfortable truth, we don’t want our ideas challenged we want the idea of the world validated!

Many are so hopelessly dependent on how things are that they will fight to protect it even if is harmful to them because change has been vilified

Well said dude!

That's a very inconvenient truth-- you're right! I can see true change and transformation though. I am heavily involved in the communities that are pushing for change so I do have optimism that while yes, many sheep stay sound asleep, that we are being confronted with more and more pressure that is pushing for us to open our eyes. (This is my hope anyway!)

We all want to fight to protect our world views-- like I said above, we want to give ourselves reason to escape the pain from knowing what is the truth.

The more people that stand unafraid in their truth, the more inspired people will be to follow suite :)

I've been on a plant-based diet for a while now and while I honestly haven't noticed any health positives or negatives, I absolutely feel better about my impact on the world.

Lots of people say they couldn't do it because they love cheese, or bacon too much, so I try and introduce them to veganish... where they eat in a non-destructive way, say, 95% of the time.

Not everyone finds obvious reactions right away but don't discredit them from happening-- you could be healing deeply on the inside and there is definitely medical evidence to support that :). For example, I had no idea about my blood and a lot of that list above took some good time for my body to harmonize into and detoxify from my past habits so maybe you'll be more aware of the changes in the future!

I know the mind gets in the way a lot, that's actually how I started out here-- showing people delicious recipes to mimic their favorite foods while being eco-conscious and cruelty free but reduction is a huge step so if it gets them there, then perfect! :)

Oh yeah, I'm definitely hoping there is a bunch of healing going on... I've always struggled with the sustainability and cruelty of meat, but it was honestly the potential to reduce inflammation and hopefully heal the myriad of overuse injuries/tendonitis I've collected.

I honestly can't believe the new recipes I've enjoyed since changing my diet... I had no idea that I was actually way more restricted in my previous mindset. It's been so amazingly weirdly exciting.
