Im very bad at animating, UwU

Rough outline

About a year ago thought to myself, animation is simply drawing but repetitive. Ohh boy was i surprised. Not only are there over a dozen principles that i need to learn to give animation some stretch and life when it moves. Avoiding flat movement and realizing that Digital artist and Digital animator are 2 completely different careers.

Its basically the equivalent of a painter and a sculptor, one paints with a brush the other carves at a boulder. Anyways i guess i should tell the story as usual as we go through the step by step process on how i made this Masta Piece!

It all starts with a rough outline of what you want the animation to look like. LOL! I did none of those. Instead i basically rolled with whatever i feel like.

Looking back why did i even try animation when my drawing skills are shit.

Comparing today and a year ago i have learned alot and might create some GIF's for this incoming Christmas UWU. Hhahaha im sure you might be surprised on how much i improved.

Anyways i'll keep things short and wouldn't want to spoil the goods for future post. So for now i'll do a side by side comparison of how i made each part and how would that affect the GIF as a whole.

(Rough outline, Merged the cloths)

On the initial steps after doing the rough sketch, i would prefer to prioritize the parts that would act as the base for the rest.

The Body!

As such the proportions and color scheme would ultimately follow the body. Which is in stark contrast on what i said about my previous post which is *Starting with the head 1st. The reasoning for this is simply i wasn't aware yet of which parts to prioritize back then. So yeah. hahahah

This is where i added the eyes and ears. As a result the hair is going to look wonky as it can be. Hahaha i remember this entire GIF taking me over 40-hours and several days to finish. Welp it was worth the effort and experience!!!

Hmm i should probably turn off the rough sketch layer. UWU its irritating to look at.

THE SHAME!

After adding the hair i noticed that the copy pasting of the hair image and only replacing a few bits here and there are not working. Since i was late at discovering that there is no bone tool in krita.

I FUCKED MYSELF!

To salvage the situation, i used the red dots as reference and Frakenstein style cut/paste the bangs to make it look like they are moving. Welp it worked out somehow.

Aight let us fast forward the coloring process. Even i forgot how i managed to do it.

I used orange for the hair and green for the body as the base colors.

Hair: Yellow Gradient top, Pink Gradient bottom

Body: Dark Green Gradient top, Yellow Green Gradient bottom

Onion: Base color white , *Differing opacity per frame of Red Gradient, Green gradient top

Face: Light White-Peach, Gradient Red top and Darker shade of base color bot.

Painted over the outline with brown because the color is mellow and it blends well with the rest of the color scheme.

Asides from that, the eye socket, gloves and thing around the neck are plain white.

Welp i lost the file that contained the heart layer. I must have forgotten to save it LOL. Anyways i guess that's about it for the animation bits. Although alot of time has passed i think i won't be attempting any high quality 24 frame/s animation anytime soon. Because of the effort required and me just being lazy.

If your wondering about digital art or animation. Just comment below. Heck you can even share some of your work in the comment section and i'll check it out.

Here are some of the tutorials that helped me improve by alot!

There a lot more but im forgetting some of them or never bothered finishing some of them. *over 1 hour long. Aight i guess that's about it. Not really sure if i can do daily post but every 2 days will do just fine for me.

Aside from that imma make some Action comic strips or post that is a parody of a certain doggo blogger.

Hopefully you peeps stay tune for the madness that's about to reveal the tragic story of a police dog.

Hhahaha until then. Posting with Luv

This and a lot more made me laugh, been a very long time since I draw... started with pen and paper like everyone else my time, drew hundreds, even bought a manikin.

I like your art... One tip I can tell you, old school animation drawing style (or some) can be applied on digital animation to help make the flow smoother with less frames.

P.S.

I have always thought to transfer to digital arts... but same as books I can't use Kindle and prefer paper back and writing using a comp hurts my eyes so bad... I still prefer paper but what can I do.

No worries, transitioning takes time. Its not like i instantly got this gud overnight even though im decent on traditional art.

Also i noticed, since i spent most of my time nowadays drawing digitally. My traditional art skills are slowly fading, huhuhu.
