It happens twice every decade, when friendships are lost, conspiracy theorists become experts, the printing industry thrive, and mail carriers work late into the night. If you live in the United States, then you can guess what I’m talking about; democracy in action! THE ELECTIONS.
This election, however, is unprecedented, below the belt, and to some, fearful. I find it funny(there’s humor in everything). The positive thing about it all is the newfound interest in government. The negative, which I will focus on, is the lack of interest in local government.
I don’t have the exact data; however, if you poll most voters, they’re more worried about either keeping the current or bringing a new tenant to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the White House. They know nothing about the proposed local taxes, the superintendent of the school system, the District Attorney, judges, the people that have a direct impact on their daily lives.
Interest in government in great but its even better to know how the government works.
