It's been a hectic few weeks and a lot has been happening on the steem ecosystem with the deployment of steem-engine leading the charge to diversify and broaden the scope of what this blockchain can do.
It all started with a Palnet airdrop
If you have been paying attention and are an active contributor to the community you may have found that you have recieved several more airdrops of different tokens created on steem-engine by different apps and dev teams.
What do you do with these token? In steem-engine you will see the option to stake your tokens. Stake them and that gives you enough juice (think resource credits) to post from the various platforms.
This post is a combined introduce myself and a little #marketfriday chat about these new tokens. Written in plain english for those of you that haven't figured out what this all means.
Steem-engine is a market for token exchange where every token is paired with the steem token and nothing else. No Bitcoin, no Fiat and none of the 3,000 + other altcoins.
More tokens appear as if by magic
This makes a lot of sense when you think about it. We need to stop thinking about comparing the steem token to fiat or other alt coins and instead think about how we can leverage steem via these other tokens. Some of these tokens may superceed steem in some respects but they are all tied to steem so whatever success they have will drag steem up as well.
As you can see I am posting this from steemleo.com which is much more than just another gateway to the steem blockchain. It is a stand alone app in it's own right serving a specific community or tribe. It's very simple to sign in.
It's just like signing into steemit or busy or steemspeak etc. If you use the keychain extension it's even simpler.
Welcome to steemleo
What a pleasant thing to see. A completely new and empty blog. Let's fill it up with really engaging and informative content and share it all over the social networks.
So why would you bother using steemleo? The answer is quite simple. Steemleo focusses on specific content that deals with finance, trading cryptocurrencies and market making. Not photos of cats etc Sorry cat lovers.
As a content creator it can be very difficult to find your audience on a general blogging website. This is why we need specific websites like steemleo? Very simple.
Steemleo will be the go to website for all of your cryptocurrency needs. What's going up what's going down and whatever else is going on in the space.
Steemleo fills a niche which has been missing for many steemians and now they can find the kind of content they want without having to scape through 1,000's of the general blog posts on the other platforms. It's a tribe of like minded people who share the same interests.
@molometer
It is great to finally have a place where we can share our ideas about crypto and economics in the real world with people that have more than just an 'get rich quick' interest in the subject.
My name is Michael. I am @molometer. A teacher of computer science and ICT and a lecturer in economics. I think I just found my new home online.
Its certainly a busy world nowadays, something new happening every day
It sure is moving fast and things are develping every day. This is just the begining of what is to come. Hold on to your hat :-)
I just remembered, dtube has this paltube thing now, how come you didn't use that?
I made the video last year before the other options were around and Dtube was still a bit unstable in terms of storing video. I will be using the new options when I get back to posting videos. :-)
Welcome to a new home.
Thanks for the welcome @oldtimer this looks like a very interesting development on the block chain.
Nice read, Michael :-)
I've just claimed the PAL tokens till now.
Hi Kevin, well done on claiming the PAL tokens and you should be getting the LEO's as well if you haven't seen them yet? Claim them and stake them on @steem-engine so that you can interact on the various chains.
We need an astrophotography tribe. What do you think?
I haven't claimed LEO's yet. Is this also working on steem-engine? Haven't seen anything there.
I thought about an AstroSTEEM coin in the past. Giving away one for every vote on an Astro related post would be no problem. But giving this coin a real value and a use case was my problem, I had no idea how.
You should be able to see the LEO's on steem-engine yes.
I assume that one option would be to create a website devoted to all thing astronomical and monetize it with specific ads from telescope manufacturers etc? What do you think?
Somehow, I'm too stupid. I can't find anything to claim them.
It's gonna be pretty hard. In this business area, there are few consumers and even fewer manufacturers. A coin would then have to offer considerable added value compared to STEEM. For example, it would have to be possible to pay the suppliers with it. Unfortunately, this is not even possible with Bitcoin.
Maybe this will change sometime, then it would be worth a try.
You can claim them in the steem-engine exchange. https://steem-engine.com/?p=sign_in
As for the Astro token. It deserves some further thought.
A very small niche for sure but globally quite big.
With Metal pay and similar payment developments. It could work in the very near future?
Your balance is below $0.3. Your account is running low and should be replenished. You have roughly 10 more @dustsweeper votes. Check out the Dustsweeper FAQ here: https://steemit.com/dustsweeper/@dustsweeper/dustsweeper-faq
Hey, how's things? Good to catch up with you in steemleo :)
Hi @shanibeer, good to hear from you. Every thing is fine with me but a little hectic spinning all these plates and trying to work on video courses as well but hey. It's all good clean fun :-)
Hehe, it is fun!
Really pleased about steemleo, great to have all these posts in one tidy place :)
It's a great idea to have one website devoted to one niche. Should cut down on the spammers?
Congratulations! I just stopped by to say that your post has been selected as a daily Featured Post of my personal curation project! You can find the daily Featured Post HERE.

Thanks @miti, nice to know there are some manual curators still working hard to surface content.
Welcome! There's plenty of good content here in steem and feels good to find them!
