RE: Emancipation Economics - Social Permaculture & Cryptocurrency

I was wondering how long it would take a company to develop a blockchain based education system.... it's such an 'obvious' idea, but freakishly complex to operationalise I imagine.

I get the feeling you started out maybe intending to outline something about tutelus (good name I think) and then just got lost in the rant, which I quite enjoyed anyway.

Welcome BTW, you might like to get involved with some of the initiatives outlined here, I guess you can find your own way to the Permies on here, there's a lot of it about!

I stumbled across you because of the @thedarkhorse's PIF competition BTW.

@revisesociology Thanks for the vote and thanks for the advice. I read it back and I didn't mean for it to sound so ranty! Haha great advice though thank you and I will bear it in mind for the future.

There are a couple of other eductaion coins I stumbled across too and a couple that verify qualifications, DREAM and knowledge.io being a couple of those. I spoke to the Tutelus CEO too and he's a very passionate and compassionate guy and I really hope it works out well for them.

I am excited about the permies on here and hope to learn a lot from them. Thanks again!

I'll be one of those permies once I quit my job in July, so hopefully see you around. Thanks for the heads up on the coins, something for me to explore!

Karl.

So glad to hear you're making the leap! You doing your PDC? I found it to be extremely helpful if you haven't done it. Where are you based?

In SE UK - I don't think I need to the PDC - I did the intro and figure I can learn what I need to from volunteeering/ visiting.

Going to relocate West in a couple of months, IF my flat sale goes through.

I did a lot of this for a while and after a few years I took the PDC. It was a great way round to do it because it helped me understand a lot of the practical real-world stuff. The PDC is a lot of theory and really helps you understand the next step but it also brings you together with some great minds. It's worth doing, but get a little practice under your belt too. Reading Toby Hemenway's Gaia's Garden is a great condensed and more applciable verison of The Designer's Manual too, which the PDC is based on :)

I might yet do a PDC... thanks for the advice with the reading material.

I just saw that you're based in Medway! I'm actually from Dartford! Small world :) The London Permaculture Guild often has some great free stuff going on that you can get involved in, especially Permablitzes and I took a course for free with them about how to interview and work with clients, which was INVALUABLE!

Yes - small world. I got the impression you were in the US for some reason!

Nope just a Kentish Woman kicking it everywhere else but Kent :P
