These past few days have been so busy for us. Just 2 weeks ago the landlord visited the house without any warning, brought her friends to check on the layout of the house. Was a bit shocked as it was rude to just visit and go to the backyard (I had no fence) without telling me beforehand, even if she's the owner, I have the right to know when they would visit.
Later on, she tells us she would sell the house soon and we have 30 days to move out... Yeah I took care of house and made sure it was well-maintained. Always paid in advance (2 months advance) and paid all the bills even before the due date... and this is how they're going to treat me. :D
Luckily I was able to find a house for rent that's perfect for us (2 humans and 4 animals) and immediately signed the contract after a few days.
We moved like a week after that since I need to have an internet connection installed first and a heater for the shower cos I can't shower with cold water hehehe. Just a few days ago, we finally moved in to the new house.
The new house we're renting is about 2 or 3x bigger than the previous one and has a fence. It's big enough for my dog Ethan to run around. He's very happy about it especially now that the stairs are wider and not steep - so he's now able to climb the stairs without any assistance!
Before he was really really scared of stairs (I'm not sure why) so he just stays downstairs. But now he got confident of climbing up and down that he now sleeps with us in the bedroom. He got too confident that he climbs even tho he has no reason to. XD He also started stealing the cats' food since he can just go up whenever he wants so I started putting the food in a higher area only the cats can reach. :P
He also follows me around wherever I go, the typical golden retriever lol.
Oh and I also have an air cooler that looks like a gaming pc lol. It's a fan but instead of just blowing out the normal air, it slightly cools the air and uses water for it. I never had a fan in the previous house since I had AC everywhere, so this is my dog's first time trying it.
I didn't know he would be a big fan of it lol and now sleeps and stays in front of it when we're downstairs. I know his breed needs a cool environment but I didn't expect he would love some wind blowing directly on his face. :D
My cats are also annoyed that they can't go out yet. They have been begging at the door. One cat is waiting near the door but pretending to be doing something else and the moment you open it, she runs towards it - such an opportunist. :D
They can't go out yet tho cos this is a new place and they need to get used to it first. Making sure they know this is where we live now so they won't attempt to go back to the previous house and get lost. They will need at least a few days or probably a week to stay indoors.
One cat found her place in the cabinet lol. She sleeps there all day and doesn't even tell us she's there. Just enjoying her me-time.
We haven't fully organized everything yet as I accumulated a lot of shit in the previous house lol so will need some time to set things up and also bring some mattresses down to the stock room so we'll have our own studio and computer room. :D

At first it was a little disappointing for the attitude of the old house owner, but who knows he is having bigger problems and has to sell his house as soon as he can. But it gives you new options for all your family members and it's much better.
Be grateful no matter what your circumstances are.
No matter how big her problem was, I’m still just one text away. She can sell her house like I care lol but can just text before coming. Now I wonder if she was the one who kept on going to the backyard cos there were times I saw my light was on and the faucet was on too. But who knows, it might just be some random kids.
I’m grateful for the experience living alone but I don’t tolerate disrespect. It’s good we fucked off there now
That is very inhuman 30 days is a very short notice. Am glad you were able to get another apartment as soon as needed.

Yeah… especially it’s quite hard to find a perfect place for us here - most are too far or are in a location that has a risk of flooding (not big flooding but still an inconvenience being stranded cos roads aren’t passable). Honestly they could’ve given us a notice about having some plans on selling the house in the future but yeah good thing everything’s fine now.

Same thing happened to us during lockdown, except it was so the landlords daughter could move in as she allegedly had no where to stay. 30 days we were given too. Silver lining was we ended up in a far better houses in a far better location for more or less the same rent.

Wtf with these landlords.. is that even legal in your place? For us, the contract I signed was not notarized by a lawyer so I wasn’t protected for anything but still 30 days notice is short. Wow good thing you found a better place for the same rent. Also probably better to not deal with those types of landlords lol
yeah they are fricking arses. Here the only way they can do that duting lockdown was by saying a relative needed it urgently to live. A complete con as a neighbour said she (the landlord) put it on the market to sell after we moved out. Well it worked out better, still a pain to move though!
They can at least just be honest about it. 🙄 Oh well…

I just moved into a new house too, but the death of my mom a week ago has made it difficult for me to truly explore the apartment. I think having a space for your cat is absolutely cool and you know, having an even bigger space to contain two person is great. Some landlord does these things. Ask you to vacate their premise impromptu without warning. I think 30 days is just too small.

I’m so sorry to hear that :( You did all your best to save her.. take your time! You will be able to explore it soon but don’t be too harsh on yourself. Losing someone is really really difficult so give yourself some time to grieve :(
Yeah.. fucking landlords. Even if you treat them right they think they can just tell you to leave just cos it’s their property.

Man this sucks but that new house does sound way better than the last one! I had a similar thing happen to me once. Me and my roommate at the time had just moved out of a collective to a new apartment. The owner was working abroad and we had a contract for three years although with a 2 month mutual termination notice. Barely 5 months after we had moved in she lost her job, moved back to Norway and wanted her apartment back. She wanted it after barely 3 weeks even though the contract said 2 months. We stayed the full 2 months but she was mad and threatening to withhold our deposit. It all worked out in the end though.
Your cats are awesome! Ours just sleeps all day then goes to the balcony to watch cars before he sleeps some more.

Hahah does he also get some random burst of energy at night? I noticed when they are able to use their energies in the morning, they don’t get crazy at random times :D

Haha yeah. I can only rely on research but who knows they probably will still come back here and not the previous house, I just want to make sure they are comfortable here before letting them out lol. The dog’s fear with the stairs… I also just guessed it but they are also quite similar to us. They can have traumas as well

One time, I lost both my apartment and place of business (a store) in the same building at the same time, due to the sale of the property. My leases did not protect me in a court of law, for a variety of reasons.

It's sad that the owner of the old house acted like that like no respect. But gald also that you abke to find a new home.
By the way your babies are so cute. Seeing you cat made me remember my lost cat and seeing you golden dog reminded me of our Lucky who died because of some bad people through giving him poison. 🤧
