Pharynx and Oesophagus-Swallowing and Peristalsis
During swallowing bolus is pushed to the back of mouth by tongue. When tongue pushes bolus the soft palate also move upward and to near. In this way the opening of nasal cavity is closed. When swallowing the bolus passes pharynx to enter oesophagus. Pharynx has adaptation to prevent the entry of bolus particles kin trachea (wind pipe to lungs). during swallowing larynx (the top of trachea) moves upward and force the epiglottis (a flap of cartilage) into horizontal position. Thus glottis the opening of trachea is closed. The beginning of swallowing action is voluntary but once food reaches the back of mouth swallowing becomes automatic.

نگلنے کے دوران بولس کو زبان کے ذریعے منہ کے پچھلے حصے میں دھکیل دیا جاتا ہے۔ جب زبان بولس کو دھکیلتی ہے تو نرم تالو بھی اوپر اور قریب کی طرف بڑھتا ہے۔ اس طرح ناک کی گہا کا کھلنا بند ہو جاتا ہے۔ جب بولس نگلنے کے بعد گلے کی نالی کو غذائی نالی میں داخل کرتا ہے۔ فارینکس میں بولس پارٹیکلز کن ٹریچیا (پھیپھڑوں میں ونڈ پائپ) کے داخلے کو روکنے کے لیے موافقت ہوتی ہے۔ نگلنے کے دوران larynx (trachea کا اوپری حصہ) اوپر کی طرف بڑھتا ہے اور epiglottis (cartilage کا ایک فلیپ) کو افقی پوزیشن پر مجبور کرتا ہے۔ اس طرح glottis trachea کے افتتاحی بند کر دیا جاتا ہے. نگلنے کی کارروائی کا آغاز رضاکارانہ ہے لیکن ایک بار جب کھانا منہ کے پچھلے حصے تک پہنچ جاتا ہے تو نگلنا خودکار ہو جاتا ہے۔

After being swallowed food enters the tube called oesophagus which pharynx to stomach. Neither pharynx nor oesophagus contributes to digestion and the previous digestive action of saliva continue.
Peristalsis moves food from oral cavity to rectum. peristalsisis defined as the waves of contraction and relaxation in the smooth muscles of alimentary canal walls.
کھانا نگلنے کے بعد غذائی نالی نامی ٹیوب میں داخل ہوتا ہے جو کہ گلے سے معدے میں داخل ہوتا ہے۔ نہ ہی گردن اور نہ ہی غذائی نالی عمل انہضام میں حصہ ڈالتی ہے اور لعاب کا سابقہ عمل انہضام جاری رہتا ہے۔
Peristalsis خوراک کو منہ کی گہا سے ملاشی تک لے جاتا ہے۔ peristalsisis کو ایلیمینٹری کینال کی دیواروں کے ہموار پٹھوں میں سنکچن اور نرمی کی لہروں کے طور پر بیان کیا گیا ہے۔
