HOW COOL ARE YOU?

Image is nothing, don't be fooled!

I recently came across an interesting illustration. It showed a "rich" man dressed in clothing that cost less then $100 USD total. Next to him was a "poor" man wearing hundreds of dollars worth of clothing. The point was to help people consider why the "poor" man had no money left.

While it is not exactly true in every situation, it does bring up an interesting point. In this vlog I share some of my thoughts about expensive things and who you really are underneath it all. Enjoy!

IF I'M ONLY COOL BECAUSE OF MY CLOTHING I'M GOING TO HAVE SOME REAL TROUBLE WHEN I'M NAKED

Until next time…

As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

The real value comes from the words we speak, not from anything else.

I agree that the first impression could be based on how you dress, what you drive, what kind of house you live in, and that's okay if you ask me.

I mean rich people have put a lot of efforts to get rich, and that adds certain respect towards them.

But if you spend some time with someone, if you are in a relationship with someone, or going to work with someone, what really is going to matter is how they speak to you.

Even on steemit, if you observe, you @papa-pepper may not be the among the whales, or earn hundreds of dollars on your posts, but people respect you more than an average whale, they love you, because the kind of words you speak.

It's because of your humility and kindness and that comes from your good words and respect for everyone on this platform.

As you said, it's not what you drive or what you wear, it's what you are, who you are that matters, work on that!

Clearly an awesome message! Appreciated a lot!

Wow, thank you so much @looftee! I sincerely appreciate it!

Welcome, and BTW, I love your blogs and Vlogs.

I agree! You don't seem to look at the reputation before you respond instead considering the quality of the content. For that, sir, thank you!

Lol, that life. A rich man is wearing something that is not too much for him while the poor man wear cloth that is much so that people can think he is rich .

Yeah. Very interesting!

Man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart! Nice post @papa-pepper.

Good one!....:)...

How cool am I? I'm this cool....

Whoa! Is that Scotty Two Hotty and Grand Master Sexy?

@papa-pepper, your post is even more timely given what society has morphed into today. At risk of aging myself, your post reminded me of the movie Trading Places.

Great minds think along the same lines! Me too.

Thats an interesting analysis.
I have been noticing this thing very much. Billionaires, often I see don't much care for their clothing while some middle class or lower wear expensive stuff.

i guess what makes a rich man rich isnt actually what he is putting on, i think its the intellect. like the poor guy looks rich but his mind is very poor. not that the rich guy can't get those stuff but his mind is on something else..which am guessing is making more money.

wow...the hat looks cool.
and am sure you will agree with me its not that you can't buy the more expensive ones.
real value is on the insdie, not who you are percieved to be on the outside.

you look cool and simple and really, thats how rich folks dress.

thats the answer, they got no goals...no long term.
Financial literacy is reall of great gain.
thank you for sharing this expensive life lesson.
have a great day.

Most people spend money they don't have, to impress people who are not even looking. It's a sad reality. Imagine 70% off on your hat...who knows if you didn't mention it? I think it has everything to do with how you carry yourself and what your goals are. Most people think of now, and not the future, more reason why this may be true to some extent: the rich keep getting richer, and the poor getting poorer. Dressing the way you want to be addressed, has nothing to do with expensive clothing and going overboard. It has everything to do with neatness and how you carry yourself. I have worn a $3 sneaker, which is like 1,000 naira (local currency), and people actually thought I bought it for higher price.
You always speak wisdom Papa. Ofcourse I buy expensive things sometimes, but it has never been to show off, but more about myself.

I think I paid a whole $5.50 for my outfit 3 years ago at the Goodwill Bins in Portland HAHA. I've been wearing the same shoes for almost 3 years now. I call them my homeless shoes because I was homeless when I got them. My little rainbow wool hat I found in a free box. The sunglasses cost me the most too LOL. Except I think I paid $20 for mine. Wait, my Black Rifles Matter shirt I bought at the gun show cost $12. So that is about how expensive my outfit is LOL.

Here is the mantra I live by. I don't need to spend a bunch of money to look cool. I haven't bought new clothes for so long it is unreal. I get a new pair of basketball shoes at ROSS for about $25 about once or twice a year.

The value of your clothes doesn't matter but the attitude and the style kinda says a lot about your personality. I love people with style , its like their inner story.

Money is just another tool.

a very great post I really like it my friend and hopefully my post like that too. Friend please help me my friend.
I upvote and resteem @papa-pepper

cool friends success continues

I have noticed that the poor always want to impress others through dressing and the rich care less about that. Someone was asked me why don't Mark Zuckerberg and Warren Buffet put on expensive clothes. I now have the answer to that. They are Cool just they way they are.

IF I'M ONLY COOL BECAUSE OF MY CLOTHING I'M GOING TO HAVE SOME REAL TROUBLE WHEN I'M NAKED

This is really funny.

LOL - I thought that people would find that part humorous. Thanks!

That was funny, and it had a deep meaning too, because if someone is respected because of his clothes, they lose their respect when they bath!

You definitely will be COOL if your naked, especially in this COOL Spring. lol

LOL! Snow here man!

What's cooler than being cool? ICE COLD!

Very nice post, thanks for sharing

don't get fooled by outer beauty, right!

No kidding! Thanks!

Insightful and thought provoking. And boy do I love that line..."IF I'M ONLY COOL BECAUSE OF MY CLOTHING I'M GOING TO HAVE SOME REAL TROUBLE WHEN I'M NAKED"

Te felicito @papa-pepper, buen post saludos y un abrazo en la distancia.

While a rich man invest his money on something profitable, while a poor man waste all his money on designer clothes. Hahaha
Such is life

this is because our mindsets are naturally educated to think so ,,,
good philosophy ,,, do not judge from the outside only ,,, thanks papa ,,, many wisdom that can be quoted ,,,

Thank you @rezack!

U are wlcome,,, papa,,,, :)

You'd be Pappa-pepper :) either wearing a 30 cents hat or a 300 SBD hat. Clothing makes no difference at all, its us who bring the value to the clothing:) Dress should be neat & clean that matters the most.

you are really cool friends, you are still the best, you do not discriminate the job, all you do is important that is the best, and fun,

@papa-pepper lemme add to what @looftee said about you.

Before I got to know you were a Christian I was like... who the hell is this weirdo...
In fact I was like this man really needs to shave off those bears 😂 😂

On a norm I see you as a cowboy or better still a terrorist. 😂 😂 Hope it didn't upset you.

But if there is anything I have learnt over time is not to judge a person with the his or her look. I learn to give a person benefits of doubt and even when a person default I create excuses for them.

I learnt not to judge people by their looks but from the contents that comes out from them.

thats so interesting...dont know how it gonna definitely look when you are really naked.thanks for this @papa-pepper

Great message bro reminds me a little of this scripture

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?

It is too bad that in today's society clothes (and other high ticket items) determine the worth of someone. I think this is truer in cities where it is a dog eat dog environment. If people would stop and listen to what people have to say the world would be a better place.

It's all material bullshit, it just doesn't matter at all. Clothing, technology, cars, even houses... we are so obssessed with material shit here in the US that we destroy other people, cultures and institutions just to defend our "right" to keep buying/consuming the latest, greatest distraction.

Be modest. Take from this earth what you need to sustain yourself. Invest your limited resources to improve your mind, help your family and friends, invest in the future and to help the communities that you are closest to. Good word papa.

nobody looks cool in front of a shelf of kids toys ;)
