I personally don't think a person's racial makeup has anything to do with intelligence or athleticism. Sure genetics can play a role (having intelligent parents regardless of their race is a plus), but I'd say culture/environment plays the biggest factor.
The reason I am curious about this is so that you or I no longer have to "think" we know when we don't.
You’d have to have some serious cognitive dissonance if you think people being historically prevented from learning doesn’t have anything to do with how they perform on tests.
I am sure it does, but we were not speaking of just any tests. We were speaking of IQ tests. In this case my statement hold true.
Why did a majority of the population feel a need to prevent blacks from reading?
If I did not answer this question it would be because it isn't something I find to be accurate. Not in modern society anyway.
I love how you try to gloss it off like it's irrelevant. It says a lot about you. Sure, a smart person can figure lots of things on their own, but you think it's rational for Black American's to figure out all the laws of physics, chemistry, astrology etc. on their own?
I don't know why you are continuing to take digs at me. I was very respectful towards you even though you seemed combative from the get-go. I ask that you desist with the unfounded assumptions about my character in any following correspondence.
Also, I again feel that you are conflating intelligence with education. Intelligence would be a requirement for learning these things yourself. But, one needs nothing more than a memory to learn it from someone else.
You do realize they would have to read a book to learn what those that came before them figured out right? It's kind of why we have libraries dude... It's why we have all the cool technology today because each generation gets to build off the wisdom of earlier ones.
Thank you. I do appreciate it when someone who clearly doesn't know what they are talking about takes a condescending tone.
This is getting rather old, but again, learning things that someone else discovered using their intelligence, is not intelligence. This is really not a difficult concept to grasp, but allow me one more chance to articulate it to you in a manner you may be able to understand.
If I invent a machine that can make bread into toast in 0.1 second, chances are, I am very intelligent. To accomplish such a feat I would need to use my brain in a number of different ways and be able to think outside of the current parameters of modern science in order to be successful.
Now, if I write down and draw an illustration of how one can construct this machine for theirselves, then it would not take a very intelligent person to do it. Why? Because they don't have to think about anything other than following instructions, which anyone who can read can do just fine.
This is why a doctorate or degree in any subject does not make someone intelligent. It makes them capable of learning information that may or may not be accurate.
So you're saying if we take a pair of clones. One is raised in the U.S. and attends the best private schools in the country, while the other is raised on a goat farm in a small African village where he receives no education. You think these two would score the same on IQ tests?
That’s beyond ridiculous.
What's ridiculous is that you are even taking part in this conversation if you do not understand what an IQ test is. They are designed to accommodate this very disparity between environmental factors among potential test-takers. It is why the questions are never about knowledge.
You will not find "What is the capital of Germany?" or "How many elements are there on the periodic table?" in a proper IQ test. It will be questions more like "If all fligs are flogs and all flogs are flegs, are all fligs flegs?" or puzzles that require one to think-- not about things they have previously learned but about logic, spatial reasoning, the ability to identify patterns etc-
One does not need an education for these types of questions(beyond what is necessary to understand the test that is, so they would need to be able to read and understand basic arithmetic).
Like I said earlier, the problem with us having serious discussions about IQ as it relates to race is the question is most likely to be posed by a “white” person hoping the answer to the question is "white people."
Well the question is being posed right now by me and I am not white, nor am I hoping for any particular result.
There's a reason why African's having the highest scores isn't common knowledge. It bothers many people who have grown up in a system that directly and indirectly tries to claim the lighter your skin, the smarter you are.

The following quote is pulled from the first link you shared.
So many Africans pursue higher levels of education as an unintended consequence of navigating the tricky minefield of immigration, said Amadu Jacky Kaba, an associate professor at Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J., who has done research on African immigrants in the U.S.
Did you miss this part or did you simply stop reading once you had decided there was enough information there that you could use to argue your position? I can't even be bothered to look at the other three right now after seeing that the first one you provided is counter to the argument you are attempting to make. I will perhaps check them out when I have more time, however, because I do actually care about knowing the truth, instead of caring only that reality adhere to my truth.
I really hope you do more to release the grip you have on your current paradigm. It has never been about blacks and whites. It's always been about the obscenely rich and everyone else. The black vs. white bullshit that you have volunteered yourself to be a part of is simply one facet of the divide and conquer strategy that they use in order to keep us too weak and too distracted to hold them accountable for the crimes they have committed, and continue to commit, in order to amass their fortunes.
Wealth knows no nationality, though I suspect that you probably believe in this white privilege bullshit too and so won't really grasp what I am trying to say.
Either way, I have spent far too much time in this conversation, and will not be replying again unless you learn how to communicate without getting emotional.
Wasn't the IQ test as we know it today deveolped by a french psychologist Alfred Binet about 15 years before the nazi party even existed?
If we're going to criticize IQ as a metric of intelligence measurement can we at least be intellectually honest and leave the hitler card out of it?
Yes people did and still do use things like IQ to tout racial superioriry that in and of itself dosent discredit entirely any usefulness that we can glean from such studies.
The US military has since WW1 used it to determine placment of soldiers in different programs differentiating potential officer material, from grunt material quite effectively.
There is certainly something to IQ though.I wouldn't claim that's all there is by any means. There is simply too much we don't know about human cognition and psychology to make claims like that.
Was that meant to be directed at me? I did not say the Hitler thing, and I added that it isn't even worthy of researching because an IQ test is still a good measure of how someone is at an IQ test, regardless of its inventor.
No @son-of-satire.
@mmaartmartial threw the hitler card.
That non argument has gotten so boring it has nearly the same meaning as racist or misogynist* these days.
I tend to agree with your stance on this topic.
