This tiny bird is found all over Africa around marshy areas where they can catch fish, they sometimes also catch insects and spiders.
The malachite kingfisher is the original bird that got me into birding, I wanted to spot one, when I saw one I wanted to work on photographing one, now I am working on taking the perfect photograph of the malachite kingfisher.
I like this photo, but sadly I had to push the ISO really hard so the image is too noisy for my taste, but this is a good beginning, I know that in the future I will get the image I want if I put the time into it.
This image was taken at Rietvlei Nature reserve in Cape Town, South Africa.
