Finding motivation to write a post in the midst of the cryptopocalypse is not easy. I know that moments like these are perfect for accumulating more SP (the Steem payout is bigger when the price of Steem is lower), but I guess that the human psyche sometimes works contrary to logic. That said, I will try to be more active in the upcoming weeks.
Enough of that, let's talk beer! Last Saturday my buddy @agniese left Bulgaria and the Balkans, and to make her departure more memorable, we decided to drink and shoot together for one last time (in Bulgaria that is). The beer had to be local, so we chose the Mursalski Red Ale from Ah! brewing company. Brewed with mint and the quite famous in Bulgaria Mursala tea (Sideritis scardica or Mountain tea), we expected nothing less but unique smell and awesome flavor.
One very cool thing about this brewery is that a percentage of each bottle's sale goes to the artist who created the artwork. And as you can see from the picture above, for the same type of beer they have different artworks.
The aroma delivered! @agniese said that it's a pleasant mix of tea, mint and honey. I'd also add that there was a pronounced maltiness in the aroma.
The taste - not so much. The beer was too carbonated, and there was more mint than tea in the flavor. The finish was minty and bitter, and it felt like I had chewed some mint leaves. It's drinkable, but neither of us liked it much.
Watch Agi pose for pictures and drink beer in the video below
All in all, it was an okay beer, but you can find better ones for the price (2.5 Euros as far as I can remember). I heard that these guys export to Serbia and the Netherlands, so if you happen to live in one of these countries, you can give it a try. The smell of Mursalski (Mountain) tea is quite unique.
I think our next beer session will be in a place that looks out of this world.
Cheers and thank you for reading!
All shots are taken with Lumix G80 & Olympus 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro. The video is shot on Sony Xperia XZ Premium.
You two look very cute together. Just sayin'. The photo pose reminds me of American Gothic.
I love the artwork on the beer bottles.....I'd probably buy it for that. I can't imagine beer with mint though....seems a strange combination.
But I'm not a beer expert or drinker save maybe one a year, if that :)
I'm intrigued.
I'm not terribly concerned about Steemit. I started with nothing and made quite a bit from that nothing and was here when it was less than 10cents.
There is still connections and fun to be had and the increases will come again.
I think it's a mistake for people to panic and not post anyway.
That said, great photos and beer review and video. Nicely done Dan.
Damn... Grant Wood, I haven't thought about it before but you're so right. I must also agree with Dan, we look creepier :)) The beer was supposed to be perfect since I'm addicted to mint and I do like beer. But maybe too many faves in one don't guarantee full satisfaction...
I just can't see how mint and beer would work. It would be like brushing your teeth and then having a beer. ?? But I don't drink really so .... enjoy it :)
Creepy?? No....you guys are cute, I told you. CUTE. not creepy. No creepiness at all. Well, maybe a little for drinking mint beer. But that's all.
I'm addicted to all things lemon. ?? I'm sour :)
Hahah 😁😂
Deb, Cororna extra with a slice of lime or lemon would be perfect for you :))
By the way, what's your nickname on Discord?
Discord - I'm countrygirl - original eh??
Yes, I used to drink Corona with lemon or lime. It was good. I'm not sure why I am not interested in drinking - really never have been.....well there was a period when I was younger, but ... who needs to go there. ???
I don't know how to maneuver around in Discord. I'm just on Curie, not at the moment, but I probably should open the channel while I'm online. Are you on there too?
Haha, I just googled American Gothic - you are spot on! :) Maybe we even look a tad creepier than the guys from the painting. Yes beer with mint is weird, but so is with pumpkin - I remember that you had such a few months back.
By the way, if the price stays the same in the coming week, I might buy some more Steem :)
Thank you so much Deb for your great comments and the support! 😊
People were buying Steem when the price was high - it didn't make sense to me....I can see why when the price is low. I might do the same too.
I might also start powering 100% as well.
I agree re pumpkin beer....I think beer should be beer....let it be (I hear a song 🎶)
Thank you as well Dan for your support. It's always fun chatting with you.
Hey, Dan! Great photos. I really like that second one, for some reason. The second label, the one with the guy falling off his horse, looks like it's more my style. It looks sort of Don Quijote-esque! Don't know if I could do mint beer, though. That sounds like a bottle of stomachache.
It's interesting watching the Cryptos melt. Hopefully, they'll un-melt and start going the other way soon.
Nice work!
Thank you, man! Maybe you are not that much into portrait photography? :) I am going to review another beer from the same brand next week, so I'm curious to see if you'll like its label.
Fingers crossed that they will un-melt soon! :) I had plans to quit my job when Steem hits $100, lol 😁
Lucky for you, the opportunity to taste test keeps your mind of things. I'm playing games on my PC. Cheers to keeping a drink then eh?
Cheers man! What are you playing on the PC? :)
haha :) I just love the music that you chose for the video. It suits the first picture, where if it wasn't for the beers, I would think we are about to meditate. As always - very creative post. I am sorry your buddy is leaving the country but that can be considered as an opportunity to taste amazing new beers in other parts of the world while visiting her :) Cheers!
Hey Eva! Meditation? No way with such serious facial expressions :) Yes, I consider that an opportunity ;)
Thanks for your comment - I'm happy that you liked the post. Cheers!
Beautiful soft light in all of the these shots, I also love the name of the brewery - Ah, like a refreshing drink.
Thanks man, all natural light from the windows :)
Haha 😁
haha :) the packaging of this beer is great! how colorful and sweet.
and you two look superb. I'm just curious about the taste of this beer. a successful work dear friend. congratulations
Yes, the labels look great and the bottles are so cute :) Thank you, my friend! Cheers 🍻
It's not the best beer I've ever had but still... The packing is worth it :D Thanky!
Nice looking beer, nice video and nice post Dan. You are an artist!
Aw, thank you so much, my friend! 😊
Ah! These jars... and Ah! this beer... it was one f my first Bulgarian craft ones... I’m not sure Bulgarian is the best description here. Heh... I think they don’t brew in Bulgaria?
About 3 years ago I found it very interesting. I liked it a lot, but was not completely into beers at all. It will be interesting to taste it one more time.
P.S. We should find time to sample some of my beers... Cheers!
Oh, that explains everything :) I was wondering why I was not able to find the address of the brewery...
Yes! By the way, I drank all of the beers that you gave me ☺️ Very good stuff, man!
Glad to hear you're going to try and be more active in the coming weeks @irreverent-dan. There has been a real dearth of content and commenting lately which makes it even harder to keep going. 😢
I love that the artist gets a cut of the profits from that beer and that it has different labels. Very nice!
Have a fun evening! 😊
Hey Gillian, saying that I will be active and being active are two different things :) Knowing myself, there's a good chance that I won't be that active :P Haha
Thanks for your comment and have a lovely Sunday! 😉
Yep. I know that one @irreverent-dan.
And now Steem is tanking even more I think it's going to get even quieter around here. 😢
It stabilized a bit :) Fingers crossed.
Well bitcoin just dropped below 6K. I was trying to buy some but it went down so fast I couldn't type fast enough! 😂
Feeling a bit fed up with posting at the moment so was distracting myself and got a bit gung ho! 😂
I'm in the same situation..trying to get motivated to be more active but it's pretty hard living in the middle of crypto apocalypse.. :)
Do you have a big portfolio of crypto currencies? :) I only own Steem.
Nope, only steem too :)
Useful review and great pictures. I like the first pic - it looks like a reverent beer lovers supplication. Well done. They labels on the bottle are cool. The labels on craft beers here get very creative. They are the new album cover art. Excellent, Thanks.
Glad you liked it man, and thank you for the cool comment! :) Reverent beer lovers supplication - I like that a lot! 😁
Thanks. Actually, I like the pose and the phrase. If you don't mind I'd like to use the pose in a couple of posts and see how it looks. It is fun: Reverent Supplication ... the beer gods would be pleased. :-))
Oh, I don't mind at all - feel free to use it :))
Yous guys look adorbs in your official beer tasting uniforms. 😉
I also love the artwork on the bottles. And the video is super fun. And I think there’s beer involved, right? Luckily it’s all so festive and kitschy that I didn’t really notice. 🤪
Yeah, the beer is kinda involved :)). Thank you, Lisa!
Forgive me, Agi. I’m just not a beer drinker. But I do love this post.
No grudge, you are forgiven ;) Haha.
Phew!
Haha, it's kitschy on purpose, and I knew you are going to like that! 😁😁 Thank you!
You two make a great team!
We do 😊
Great review mate. And, as always, fantastic photography. :)
It’s a shame that one of your photographic subjects has moved away.
No worries, we gonna visit each other :D
Thank you so much, buddy! :) She was actually my only photographic subject, lol. But yes, we'll visit each other.
"She was actually my only photographic subject" - dunno why but it sounds a bit disturbing :))) LOL
Haha, it does sound a bit disturbing :))
What a nice post
You did a great job
Cross my fingers for your #BeerSaturday entry
Thanks a lot man! :)
Wonderful to see this collaboration! @agniese is great in the beer reviewer's position. :) Great post!
Oh well... I really am! :D Thanks, Catalin!
Thanks man! I'd love to collaborate with you too on such a post, once we meet each other :)
It must be delicious with those unexpected ingredients. And the bottles are beautiful!
Glad that you liked them, Isabel! :)
