Hey!
On last Thursday, I drove 50 kilometers East, to Iitti, to get my Covid19 shot.
Since I had to drive that far for the shot I didn't want to lose the chance for some photos, and took the camera with me.
I ended up visiting the Perheniemi bird sighting tower near the Iitti parish.
This was the bridge I had to cross to get to the bird viewing tower. // Silta, jota pitkin lintutornille pääsi.
Viime torstaina ajoin noin 50 kilometriä itään, Iittiin rokotettavaksi koronavirusta vastaan.
Koska jouduin ajamaan niin pitkälle, ajattelin, ettei tilaisuutta valokuvien ottamiseen kannata hukata, ja niinpä otinkin kamerani mukaan.
Päädyin vierailemaan Perheniemen lintutornilla Iitin kirkonkylän lähellä.
The place was teeming with dragonflies // Tornilla lenteli hurjan paljon sudenkorentoja
For some reason, while I heard them loud and clear for a long time, I didn't see almost any birds. Pretty much the only things I saw were a bunch of excruciatingly elusive dragonflies flying about. (I definitely had a hard time getting one in focus.)
Jostain syystä, vaikka kuulinkin lintujen laulun selvästi, en nähnyt pitkään aikaan yhtäkään. Lähestulkoon ainoat lentävät olennot, jotka näin, olivat tuskastuttavan nopeasti karkaavat sudenkorennot. (Minulla oli hankaluuksia saada tarkennettua yhteenkään.)
Whooping swan and some other birds in the distance // Laulujoutsen ja joitain muita lintuja kauempana
After spending a half an hour or so waiting and observing, I heard a call, and then saw a whooping swan at a distance. I tried to shoot a few photos of it, but it was simply too far away. The shots I took with the 300mm lens still had to be cropped a lot. While editing, I did notice however, some other birds in the distance. Quite a largish litter in fact. Not sure about what birds they were, since I can't zoom the photo any larger.
Kulutettuani jotakuinkin puolisen tuntia aikaa odottaen ja tarkkaillen, kuulin kutsuhuudon, ja näin kaukaisuudessa laulujoutsenen. Yritin ottaa siitä muutamia kuvia, mutta se oli yksinkertaisesti liian kaukana. Jouduin rajaamaan rankasti jopa 300 millisellä linssilläni ottamia kuvia. Editoidessani huomasin yllättäen joitain muita lintuja taaempana kuvassa. Oikeastaan aika suurehkon poikueen jopa. En kyllä pysty tunnistamaan lajia, koska kuvaa ei voi suurentaa enempää.

Nice place to go for a walk! Why did you have to go very far to get the jab?! Don’t they distribute them to all hospitals?!
What did you get?! AZ or Pfizer? Hope you don’t have to get any booster!
It certainly was, but I would've been happier if there had been more birds to shoot.
There was a queue at the local hospitals and health clinics, so it was faster to reserve the time a little bit further away.
Took the Pfizer shot, AZ wasn't even a choice. The other one I could've chosen was Moderna. Yes, well Pfizer seems to need a booster shot in 90 days.
Now it just seems, that the current vaccines don't cover the Delta variant very well, so we'll have to wait and see what happens, and whether there is a need to go for some extra vaccines.
I'm still waiting for the Finnish nose spray vaccine to come available. It's supposed to be designed by using Open Source principles, so maybe it can be cheaply re-produced in other countries too with no fear from patent trolls.
I think the spraying stuff is more convenient!
It’s better not to take tbd second shot of mRNA as it would probably be too many outside mRNA inside the body. Wait and see the long term effect; there would be more improved versions in the near future, from what I could gather from the internet. The market is highly competitive with over a hundred variations on pipe lines!
