One of the main reason I joined Steemit was to share some of my dark sky Milky way photography. It gets me outside and away from the computer for long periods of time. I feel like we all need to be reminded to get out more and connect with the cosmos.
Here is the original panorama I created from merging seven plus photos together to get a wider landscape view of the Milky Way.
Do you like the original or the edited version?
Thanks for stopping by and feel free to leave a comment or ask a question
Pictures look amazing.
Thank you, glad you appreciate the cosmos
I love your photos. They looks like theres a story to tell.
Thank you
Your welcome
Fantastic photos, again.
Yeah, these were the reason I got interested in your blog. Now you are also doing a pretty awesome job posting steemit (chart) memes. :)
ha ha, yes I cant help make fun of some of the content on Steemit.
Nice pics, I prefer the edited, it gives better glance of the picture, I think you should post more of this pictures, there are a lot of people you could inspire.
I appreciate that, and I plan to post more but they do require quite a bit more time and preparation as compared to other types of photography.
I love everything about space. I would like to be able to buy material to be able to observe it, I ask myself so much question. In any case very beautiful picture. I especially love the first
Space rocks, I never get tired of looking up
nice pics. i kindy like the edited one better.
Thanks for the feedback, glad you like it
I love the edited version, because of the colors :-)
I agree, the edit makes it pop more
Night sky and star photography always have the same effect on me... Makes my jaw drop....
You just got a new follower, @azfix :))
Thanks @brumest I am always happy when I fine others who appreciate the dark sky.
I like all types of skies actually, but more into drama clouds during sunsets and sunrises.
I have quite a few sunset photos, they are much easier to get than Milky way photos
Yeaa, for those you need to do long exposures, having the right lens with infinite focus (that's as far as my knowledgeon goes) ... I never tried it but I sure want to.
Also make sure the sky is clear and within 3 to 4 days before or after a new moon so you get as little light reflected from the moon as possible. The less light that enters the camera from the moon the more brilliant the milky way will be.
Cool tip, @azfix. That I didn't know. I guess every detail counts on that type of photography.
Congrats @azfix. Your photo made it on the Top Photographs Daily Selection today :). Upvoted and Resteemd!

I appreciate that, Thank you
This is amazing
Glad you enjoy it :)
That is the best way
Still haven't bought a tripod, but as soon as I do I'm gonna have some nighttime photos to share with you! Keep it up, you're doin' great work!
Sounds good, I cant wait to see your results!
Takin' notes in the meantime! :)
I like both versions! Amazing sky with wonderful Milky Way! I can remember those days that you joined Steemit! And I like your works about the dark sky since that day!
Thanks @tangmo I really enjoy this type of photography most, plus it gets me outside.
You're welcome! Me, too! ;)
Always good to see your Milky Way shots. Definitely like the edited one better , the sky comes out way more , and the colors are much more vibrant.
Its a difficult balance to make it look natural and not go too far with the edits. I am looking at ways to stack and align shots in gimp for less noise, but it probably wont work with panorama shots like this.
Yeah definitely , sometimes I mess around with some of my astro shots a bit , and yeah somtimes it's hard to get the balance right (of course I could probably use a bit more practice on that front :) )
But anyways , I was thinking when you mentioned stacking and aligning , I haven't tried that in GIMP but I used to use DeepSkyStacker a bit , you can get some pretty good results with that. However I'm not sure if it would work for images with a foreground , but it might. Maybe worth a look.
I have heard of it, but mostly in relation to star photos without a foreground. If I cant get the results I want in Gimp I may have to revisit that option.
Wow, these are really nice!! what camera do you use? :) I think it is so hard to get a good picture of the nightsky
Thank you for the kind words this was on a Canon 6d, it is a little tricky to capture the Milky Way. The key is a long exposure with a wide angle lens and a sturdy tripod.
Very nice! I definitely like the edited version. Are the seven images vertical shots all in one row?
Yes they are, good eye
keep 'em coming :)
I will, thanks for stopping by and your comment
They are both beautiful. It's amazing how beautiful pictures can be with a little work and a great camera. I like how in the one you can see the little hut more but the sky on the other one is amazing.
I probably could have done more to brighten the rest area (hut) in the edited photo but wanted the focus to be more on the sky. Thank you for the nice comment
