I really want to get a DSLR camera. My Fuji is OK and has been great for learning about photography, but now I am getting frustrated that I can't focus in on macro images as I want to and it isn't so great in lower light either.
The Finepix does have a macro and super macro setting, however it really doesn't work that well. You can't get the crispness that I am after, and most of the time it won't focus on the subject matter that I am trying to capture.
I will keep practicing with it for now, but I am looking for a DSLR.
Any suggestions? I want something that isn't too technical as I am still very much a noob to photography, but I want to be able to capture better quality images.
A few of my practice pieces today...
Thank you for reading! :) @beautifulbullies xx
A good camera is necessary yes, but that doesn't have to be a professional one though. There are many models out there with their specifics. For instance I have a Konica Minolta Dimage Z3 (old but good), which has accesories like filters and lenses, but is not that expensive.
Just google around with the words "camera review" and you will find a lot of brands and models with their prices. Good luck and keep it up!
Hello @beautifulbullies,it been a while. I have been away from steemit for some time now. I am still new to photography so as such I might not be able to give you exactly what you need. it is here on steemit I began to here of micro photography (thanks to you :) ) I am a Nikon user though, a D5300 to be precised. So far it serves my needs, so far what I have observed is that the quality of images also depends on the lens used (prime lens still remains the killer to me...lol) so as I said I am a newbie to photography and if I am to give you an advice I will say you can go for it as well (Nikon D5300) And there are also a lot of dope cannon out there too. At times I don't really know which is best but I love my D5300...lol and please can you throw more light on micro photography
Thank you for your advice @fona! I love macro photography, there is something magical about the details of nature that we just don't see with our eyes. I think I will go into a camera store and see if they can show me how to use some of the cameras and lenses, the one I have has no attachments, it is a basic point and shoot lol Glad you are also finding an interest in macro photography, we can learn together! :D
if you want a simple camera + high quality + macro, you should have a look at the Sony RX1. it's small, very straight forward, professional, and you can get the 1st generation for the price of a cheap dslr.
only downside: you have to get used to working with only one lens (35mm).
thank you, that's good advice. I think 1 lens is enough anyway to start with as long as I can achieve all that I want to with it. I have never used them before :)
okay! You may not really have bother about the camera body. A D5300 or D5100 Nikon body will do. You have to worry about the lens. Lenses are what actually do the major work. Focus, backgrounds, lenses play a major in those! Get a prime lens though. Its will serve you better in your kinda photography @fona has a point. Try going online too to check.
I agree, I think I need to look at a camera that I can change the lenses on. I don't think I can add different lenses to this camera, but I will check online first to see what my options are. Great advice, thank you! :D
i would say you're doing exceptionally great even without one, so why bother?
but again, your call ! :)
Awww thank you :) I just really want to get the crisp images that I see everywhere. I am a perfectionist lol
Your practice photos turned out lovely. You caught the light and details well :)
Thank you :) I am still not happy with the lack of crisp lines, but I am trying to make do for now lol
you will succeed :)
I am nothing if not persistent! lol

Hello @beautifulbullies.... really love that first one... a very unique flower. You got the eyes to start with. I have used Olympus D series and Fuji XT series... both are the best. Also Canon EOS. Go and try them... perhaps you will find choice that you are comfortable and confident with.
thank you so much! :)
beautifully!
