Kay posing with elephant bones at the Tsavo West Lodge.

In 2016 Kay and I took a birding trip to Kenya led by James Bradley and John Sterling. It was a trip of a lifetime, and because I got in little birding today I'll take a trip down memory lane with some of my favorite photos from the trip, with an emphasis on mammals.

African Elephants have become endangered due to poaching for ivory. This photo is from Nairobe National Park.

We also saw Giraffes on the first day of our trip at Nairobe National Park. The park is so close to the city, that you can see the skyscrapers in the distance from many places in the park.

Impala were seen nearly everywhere there was open grasslands.

Oryx were also seen frequently.

These Common Zebra slowly crossed the road while we waited and cameras whirred.

Grant's Gazelles were more common.

It is worth the trip IMHO.

wow.fantastic. you are lucky

I agree, I am very fortunate to have had the chance for such wonderful travel and for such a wonderful woman to travel with.

Nice photography and thanks for sharing such awesome ones.

Elephants are in danger all over the world because of ivory hunters although there are efforts to save them by creating suitable forest and environment suitable for those species here in India.

But, there are still the instances of killing elephants for ivory.

The giraffes, the zebras and the deer look so beautiful.

Thanks again for sharing, have a wonderful day :)

Thanks. Even with every effort to thwart poachers, the distances to protect are huge, funds for wardens is limited, and poaching is very lucrative. The real answer is to eliminate the market for illegal ivory, but unfortunately it still exists.

Well, that's true, even if there is more fund, it may not reach the officers as it will be shared between politicians atleast here in India...
Illegal business of ivory cannot be totally eliminated because rich people are fond of the ornaments of ivory and there might be people who collect it as a mark of pride.

So, protection of remaining elephants in order to increase their breed is something which can be done atleast.

Thanks again for sharing this, following you now.

awesome! Excellent travel!
It's great to see animals walking freely.

For sure. It was really an awesome trip, emphasis on awe!

Wow this makes me really want to experience Africa. So many beautiful animals. Thanks for sharing your awesome pictures

Perhaps this is one of the most unforgettable experiences of a lifetime

Oh wow, quite the safari you had indeed - Loving the colors on those Thomson's Gazelle, the hartebeest picture is stunning - the texture on the elephant skin brilliant and the 'very happy' zebra made me smile

That was great I hope you enjoyed the great adventure and the frash air of the atmosphere

That must have been a great adventure. Thank you very much for sharing.

Be fascinated with this place, Kenya is the place where the phrase 'Hakuna Matata' (no problem) embodies the national attitude, and where the smile is the most valuable currency.
Place of golden savannas, rolling prairies, jungles and volcanic plains, Kenya rises from the idyllic shores of the Indian Ocean to the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kenya. The options of this African country are endless and that's why it's easy to get caught up in its magic. Ten reasons to visit and fall in love with Kenya

In Kenya you can also enjoy the greatest show of wildlife on earth. The largest annual migration of two million wildebeest along with a considerable sum of gazelles and zebras from the Serengeti to the plains of Masai Mara in Kenya, is a unique and unforgettable show of nature that has been taking place since time immemorial.

In short, Kenya is a very rich country to enjoy

Wonderful photos, I love it, I love nature, Congrats for this trip!

Regards I invete you to visit my blog,@mjoa07, I posing with a cow skeleton

Looks like an amazing trip. Only safari I've been on is at Animal Kingdom in Florida. :)

Thanks for sharing @birdbanter. I was in Tsavo just a few weeks ago. It is probably my favourite place in the world. It is very green there now but Kenya is having its heaviest rainy season in over 60 years! BTW a few off your ID's are a bit off ;). Are those waterbuck in grounds of the Lake Nivasha country club?

Very beautiful... :)

Ohhh... Very big bones there
Seeing an animal from afar because they're endangered. Why? Are they dangerous or they fear they might hurt the tourists
Beautiful photos, i read about these parks and their animals, one day i hope to visit them

Sooo informative! love the last one she's cutie bird!
