Greetings Dear Readers;

.
Hope you are well.
.
Shall we have a look at this Principle... 'The greater your vocabulary, the greater your ability to think.'

A vocabulary gives one the ability to communicate one's thoughts, to express one's self, to articulate, elucidate a concept....etc. Without words or sometimes even without a single word the thought cannot be formed.

Words form sentences...Sentences form paragraphs....Paragraphs form chapters....Chapters form a book.

An excellent demonstration of this Principle comes from noting that almost any subject, vocation, occupation, or endeavour has a technical vocabulary. The further one goes in the study of that subject....the more technical terms they will learn, acquire and use.

Here's hoping you will give this Principle a think.

Thank you for dropping by. ^__^

Kind Regards,

Bleujay

This is definitely a neat concept.

Some people have said they like the way I write. All I try to do here is articulate into words the conversation we would be having if we were in person. Having had a grammar teacher as a parent and being a sales guy by trade has developed certain skills when it comes to effectively communicating by text but I never really gave too much thought to it as anything but passably functional.

These days, in marketing, I try and not use plain words like 'great' or 'really' too much and I do find a vocabulary helps with that. The problem is that advertising and marketing is supposed to be aimed at a wider audience and using fancy words has the possibility of making someone feel stupid and tuning out. So, I have to keep the vocabulary at a lower common denominator while not sounding basic. A totally different skillset.

So, in person, you will probably get a mix of big boy words and profanity ;) Here, it is a constant battle between entertainingly flamboyant adjectives and conversational language that is accessible for the casual reader or even people who are not adept in english.

So, a greater vocabulary is a tool you use depending upon the job at hand but one everyone should have in their toolbox.

Greetings @zekepickleman ,

All so true....we do have to keep in mind our audience...sounds like you have a bit of a tightrope to walk indeed. Here at Hive, your posts are quite engaging and readable.

I enjoyed hearing your Mum was a grammar teacher....how many of us wish we had paid more attention in Grammar class. ^__^

Thank you for dropping by with this lovely reply.

Kind Regards, Bleujay

o! I will take a notice of this when writing ... at least will try!!! haha. Funny remark it was.

Such beautiful daffodils, shining in bright yellow (which suits well to the green-yellow lemons)! And then your painting also looks so beautiful, very detailed, with wonderful colors @bleujay!

Greetings @gen-quimba ,

Appreciate your kind remarks regarding the 'Icing'....thank you!

Kind Regards,

Bleunay

I could fall in love with those limes. So appealing!
Loved the photo (and especially the editing and colours).
Do you already have daffodils blooming?

'The greater your vocabulary, the greater your ability to think.'

The thesis is questionable. I'd rather disagree, a bit, with the formula. I'd put it different: with a greater vocabulary and more complex grammar, one can formulate more complex things and hold discussions at the highest level. But the ability to think is the same for everyone, but not everyone uses it to the fullest :)
On another hand - our mind and way of thinking are verbalized, without language there would be no thinking process at all... 🤓

We finally have 2 sunny days here!
Have a great day, and a slice of Hive !PIZZA

Greetings @qwerrie ,

Thank you for dropping by....your reply with regard to the principle is much appreciated. I would say, your thoughts are nuances on the principle, and are quite correct.

Happy to hear you have had some sunny days....We have as well and they are most welcome. To answer your query...The daffs in Bleujay's Garden are just now emerging and the Hellebores are blooming....these harbingers of Spring always bring delight!

Thank you for your kind wishes and tokens. ^__^

Kind Regards,

Bleujay

Your painting of the "'Daffodil in the Snow' is pretty beautiful. The Daffodil in the photos are also gorgeous in bright yellow color.

Your Principle makes me think well about myself and I'll try my best to follow your Principle accordingly. Many thanks for sharing.....

Have a wonderful day!

Greetings Dear @tangmo ,

Thank you for dropping by with your lovely comment.

Happy to hear your kind words with regard to the Principle and the Icing.

Kind Regards to you and the kitty cats,

Bleujay

The wide angle shots captured the whole flowers quite well. Although there's a lot of details and richness to the portraits, I still prefer the wide angle ones.

@tipu curate

Greetings @josediccus ,

Appreciate your kind words with regard to the Photographs.

Yes...I understand...many times when I see still life paintings especially the more contemporary...the details of the flowers themselves are lost.

No Hellebores in this one...just daffs and a small single yellow narcissus as well as grass leaves and branches found when gathering them.

NB Appreciate your generous tip...very kind of you!

..the details of the flowers themselves are lost.

This is true, although I agree that the details can be lost and we may just want them, but still, the colours are fascinating enough to show how beautiful they are.

NB Appreciate your generous tip...very kind of you!

You're welcome, Indeed.

Wow! Love Yellow flowers 🤩

Greetings @claudio83 ,

Thank you for your enthusiastic reply. ^__^

Cheers, Bleujay

Excellent thought, my friend, and it is true that with a broader vocabulary we can come to understand each other much better with the different people in the world.

Greetings @hjrrodriguez ,

Very kind of you to drop by....with your reply with regard to the Principle. Well said!

Kind Regards to you and your familia,

Bleujay

I love your daffodil painting.

I also love words. I enjoy it when I come across a new word, not new, but new to me that describes something better than the words I already know do. It's amazing how many words for things or happenings exist that you don't know about.

Greetings Jacey,

Thank you for dropping by with your kind compliment and response to the Principle.

It is true.....so appreciate hearing, reading words I have not come across before....treasure trove!

Kind Regards, Bleujay

i would say also knowledge, its extremely important

nice draw!

Greetings @davideownzall ,

Indeed! Thank you for dropping by.

Appreciate you kind words with regard to the artwork.

Kind Regards,

Bleujay

That’s so true! People with minimum education of four years like my gardener found it so difficult to tell me about her thoughts or to describe a situation to me. She had to invent new words by making funny sounds . So it becomes quite difficult to understand what she’s trying to communicate as she isn’t using standardized words.

Greetings @kaminchan ,

Thank you for dropping by. ^__^

The poor dear...I am sure she is happy that you are patient with her.

Greetings to the Orange cats.....

Kind Regards,

Bleujay

NB How very kind of you to reblog my post....thank you!

Thank you for your reply.

Yup. My gardener was very frustrated when she couldn’t find the words to describe her thoughts. It was very funny to me!

Excellent content as always, both for the photos, the small watercolor and mainly for what you have written!... Thanks for sharing @bleujay friend!... Sending blessings for you and ypur people around!...
