I agree with you...we are in need....this principle is to encourage anyone to step up to the bar with his best efforts in what he does...he is at least leading himself and as a result may have a positive influence on others.
As you said so succinctly said....' Actions do indeed define the person and not the title bestowed unto them. If we have strength of character and, very importantly, strength of moral character then we all have the ability to influence one another in a positive way.'
We know the opposite is true as well.
It is good to hear you have had the experience of responsible leadership. It is a memorable experience and you have experienced the contrast which really highlights the query....What did we learn?...in a fantastic way.
Have you read the book 'Man's Search for Meaning' by Dr. Viktor Frankl? What I learned from it, was the importance of objectivity.
