It never ceases to amaze me, that these paper-winged little beauties fly all over the planet the way they do. The buffeting winds must to be amazing n the trip. Yet they 'wander' on a known path for so many miles. Amazing indeed, and that they stay intact for most of the way. Though a bit tattered at times, as I've seen in your photos.
The tattering happens with old age, but if the rest looks OK, it is often from fighting over territory or dragonflies trying a bite and missing the meat.
Yes, the long-distance flying is an amazing thing, when you look at them flapping about here, seemingly without great flying skills, but I have seen a few flying fast and in a straight line, very impressive, with little glides along the way.
