Chelidonium majus, commonly known as greater celandine or nipplewort is a herbaceous perennial plant, the only species in the genus Chelidonium. It is native to Europe and western Asia and introduced widely in North America where he was introduced by colonialists in 1672 as a cure for warts. Greater celandine belongs to the poppy family.
The aerial parts and roots of celandine is used in herbal medicine.The herb has antibacterial properties. Earlier in the Ukraine treated with tincture of celandine herbs hot jars and pots to milk not sour. From the grass get yellow paint. Oil from the seeds of celandine protects the metal from corrosion, grass juice is used for blackening the metal. The plant is poisonous.
