It is no secret we all wish to do well in our lives. We have goals of our own, goals of our families, borrowed goals we think we want for ourselves because others do. It is the latter that worries me. Of course we can take it as a game, as a competition. The race. Healthy amounts of it does no harm. Maybe. Maybe it even gives us a hand with our own goals.
Or maybe it gets out of hand without us noticing and the race runs us. Ruin us with never ending lust for more. Like blood crazed hounds. We become blind and deaf to our own moral compass. Brushing it off as nothing. Justifying even. What else is there? Got to run the race. Got to smash the competition. They are the ones being greedy. Giving them a hand? Nah. Too easy. They got to run and outrun us first.
Why you run? Where are you headed? Where are you now? Winner stands alone… Really?!

Song of the day: Yelawolf - Till It’s Gone
Hello m31. Everyone hopefully has goals and I think that is healthy. If you are competing against someone in sport that is fine as that is natural. Everyone likes to win otherwise what is the point. You don't train to just lose but to win. In life if you are competing against a family member for example then it is not healthy as jealousies will arise somewhere along the line. I have seen it first hand and think it's quite pathetic. The competition was over their houses and they kept renovating to out do each other.
Hello to you too @cryptoandcoffee! I appreciate you taking your time to comment :)
It seems sometimes we are pushed and forced jumping hoops and taught compete against each other not just in sports and keep forgetting that creating those legendary masters is always a team effort. Doesn't matter who they are, there are people who influence and shape them, help them to reach their heights. It is selfish to think one can pull it off all by themselves.
That's why I always try to make my own goals based on what I think will make me happy. And try never to compare my own progress with others, if I find myself doing this for even a moment I stop myself.
I also think finding joy in the simple is so important to the soul. And to rest and regroup to continue on your own path towards goals, it's like those moments of quiet rest are a palette cleanser almost to clear your head of worry. For me, it's being unplugged and in the garden. That makes my soul sing and keeps me grounded.
Oh my... I really love that photo, and combined with Til It's Gone, it has quite the interesting effect on my mood.....
What else is there?, indeed... I swing from ambition to complacency on a weekly basis... At times, I get all caught up in envisioning a future I think I want for myself, and start acting, trying to devise some way of getting there... Other times, I'm playing No Man's Sky, or reading a classic, caught up in the present/past, and feel completely content and happy with my life as it is.
Maybe having a mix of these two modes is the healthiest? I hope so ;P
What about you? How much do you allow yourself to participate in the great race?
Thank you @madelsage :)
I am not sure at this point and time. Having disembarked for a year and spending most of my time here has changed how I see many things a lot. Maybe I'm trading stability and security for a lot of unknowns, but I would not have it any other way. It needed to be so.
I don't want to race at all.
Yoli guapa!!! 💙🦄
Gracias Nely! :*

A little competition has never been bad, it teaches us to reach for goals, but I've sadly seen so many people become consumed to the point that their greed will drive them to step on others in order to always be the victor. Not the kind of person I want to be
