These fast little guys can be tough to photograph!
If you have been watching the @papa-pepper account, you know that I am often out in the woods interacting with many of the incredible creatures that roam around this planet. For years I have enjoyed photographing and filming them, and I am so glad to have the outlet that steemit provides. There are many tricks that certain photographers will use, like chilling a cold-blooded creature to make it sit still longer, but I prefer to take less manipulated photos.
That said, when you are dealing with fast little creatures like this Brown Snake, it is very difficult to get good photographs sometimes. Such was the case this time. I hope that you enjoy the few I did get, and you can check the proof photo for size comparison.
As always, I'm @papa-pepper and here's the proof:

YES!!! I should use that technique to make it BIGGER! Great idea!
I hope I never find a snake :/ Really afraid of them :/ How do you just find them, pick them up and befriend them :/

That mustache looks venomous LOL jk jk. You've got to have balls of steel to take a picture of that snake!
For being a snake, it looks actually very cute!
But is it venomous?
Great to continue sharing your art @papa-pepper
I'm great fan!
Found an Eastern Hognose snake along the side of the garage yesterday. Checked under the splashblocks for a toad but came up empty. Relocated it to the edge of the woods. It was big into the cobra pose!
Hi @granda-pepper
Greetings @bien. Btw, I just used a stick to place it in a bucket and carried that to the woods. Snakes are ok, but unlike my son I do not go searching them out.
Yeah..@papa-pepper really love what his doing...thats why those things also love him alot!
@papa-pepper- As usual - you have managed to stun me with your knowledge and familiarity with snakes
Venomous or not, it takes a lot of bravery (and respect + love for snakes) for picking one up. I must also admire your photography skill - even if I managed to hold a camera in my badly shaking hands, after seeing a snake, I doubt if I can focus in time to take such clear and dynamic pictures. Kudos. Thanks for sharing. Upvoted.
I have reverted back to my loved wildlife animal blogs and have posted one about Lions in the making - A cubs story. I request you to take a look if you have time. Your comments would be eagerly awaited. Thanks.
You have every type of snake that lives around your property mate...Your kids must love it.
Uff..It is dangerous sir.How can u mange this? really u are a great man
wow, I didn't expect it to be so tiny, i thought it was bigger from the first few photo!!
A lot of people say things like that. It is part of the reason that I enjoy the proof photos! Thanks!
What camera you using to photograph these @papa-pepper?
My cousin (who is big into reptiles) says one of the most difficult things for him is also capturing them on "film" (well, digital) when they moving about...
A CANON VIXIA HF R800
Really? A video camera? You just taking snapshots with it then?
Working pretty well then!! Thanks!!
Keep up the awesome work 😎
You can kind of see it in the reflection of my sunglasses here.
You can also check out this post for more info about it: https://steemit.com/photography/@papa-pepper/a-broken-camera-and-the-steem-powered-solution
Ah!! There we go 😁
Will definitely check it out... Thanks 😁
I just found out about you by looking at mericanhomestead account.
Love this post!
Do u ever get nervous when being that close to them or are you used to it already? @papa-pepper
The venomous ones are worse to put your face next too.
Especially if you don't have a grip on them!
This isn't as bad.
WOW! :D
wonderful
Some great pictures @papa-pepper ! Sure is a cutie you found! Best wishes to you and future adventures/finds!
Thank you!
Cute snake and nice photos ;) Greetings from Poland ;)
Thank you. Greetings to Poland!
That's quite a shift in perspective! I hope you survived that fierce creature attacking your forehead! ; )
LOL!
Do you like snakes? I do not like them for the fact that they bite humans. Be careful with snake especially poisonous ones unless you are armed with some quality snake venom.
They are no friends to humans unless tamed ones which I actually have never seen in real life.
I have heard that some people keep all manner of snakes as pets but that often makes me shudder at the thought of it. Not to say that it is bad but just thinking of the the choice of such as pets.
Dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, and just about everything else bites humans too, right?
A lot of mammal bites are way worse than snake bites. This one is nonvenomous too, so that helps.
You are right in a way however, the tamed species of the animals you mentioned are not as dangerous as untamed snake. Venomous snakes can kill in seconds so never play with them. I am glad you said this specie is not venomous so you are safe.
I do enjoy the venomous ones too, like this one in the video.
And the one in this video too.
Wow. I was amazed at the size :-) Even though I realise it's completely different to our various Australian Brown Snakes, the name tricked me into imagining it as being bigger. Cool little snake! Love your wildlife posts.
Yes, completely different from the Australian one!
yesterday i was watching 4 water snakes hunting in shallow. long time i didnt seen anything better lol, and my 3yr old cant stop talking about it. too bad i didnt even had phone to make crappy video. im around rivers whole my life, but never seen such action. its like, they strike, and miss, or they strike, hit, and let the water carry them and fish downstream, and then other snake takes place. bah, im gonna get back there as soon as i can.
Interesting, last night, about midnight, I took my 4 year old boy out looking for water snakes. We found two, and had a great time! Sounds like your experience was amazing!
i love snakes, but my 3yr old was out of herself, ive never seen her happier. not to mention reactions of the rest of the beach and all the weird looks at 2 of us :D eople are generally afraid of snakes.
and their style of hunting - is almost same as moray eels do. really amazing creatures.
Wow
Great photos, especially for such a teeny tiny snake. Love all your posts but you should add some scientific names so we can get to know our critters better.
This is one of the only snakes I've ever managed to photograph. It's a slug eater (duberria lutrix) - completely harmless and fairly common in the Cape Town area. The Cape Cobras and Puffadders are definitely NOT to be picked up.
Right, often I do include the scientific names, as I did in my video post featuring it: https://steemit.com/wild-man/@papa-pepper/the-wild-man-s-wild-friends-video-series-episode-16-brown-snake
Thanks, my bad. Will check out the video.
No, not your bad. I probably should include them whenever I know them, and I did not here. Great reminder, so thank you!
Great photos @papa-pepper! Is the brown snake venomous?
Oh look, it's durant
Great pictures
UPVOTED AND RESTEEMED
Thanks for the useful information. Thank you
It feels like you have a lot of snakes living on the site! @papa-pepper
Great post papa-pepper. I love Nature and animals and even snakes. Beautiful animals. Many do not know that they are just the dams never attacking the first, so if you encounter them in the forest just bypass them.
papa pepper :D...i like your name...you didn't cut its head and put it on a barbeque?
Wowww...u play with snake...rock it @papa-pepper
Wow. I'd never seen a snake as small as that! :]
I don't know why most people consider snakes, scary, they are soooo cute!
Are they your pets?
I love your post and I've left my voice in your post that I am also following you. Can you do the same to me? Your voice is very precious to me. :)
If your snake photos are not good enough, that means you are not close enough
Hi @papa-pepper I was referred to you by @vibeof100monkeys. I took a picture of a tiny snail with a strange pattern on it's shell. And I was wondering if this is natural, some disease, some parasite or something else? Since you're apparently (and according to what I see on your profile it's true) the expert on wildlife. Could you have a look? (This is not a beg for votes or whatever, I honestly want to know if it's natural, as I have never seen something like this). This is the post: https://steemit.com/photography/@divyne/check-out-the-pattern-on-this-little-snail
How is it possible that you mange to find so many different creatures? If we were in a Pokemon world, you would have already caught them all. I sometimes see a squirrel in the woods, but that's all. Haha, maybe they are afraid of me, because I'm juggling with rock and wooden sticks? Heh?
Feel free to check my last monkey stuff here, maybe you'll like it. (Not animals were injured, expect the monkey that I am) <3
@papa-pepper How is the poison of the snake? Is he poisonous?

I love what you're doing here Kevin, with the snakes and all the animals. May God continue to bless you and support your family here with this venture!
Hi @papa-pepper. Sorry to bother, but I sent some updates on steemchat.
Wooooh!! Snakes..
Great post and I enjoyed these pictures!
The snake is like a ninja hoping to avoid us all. Thanks for the brown snake, very pretty.
