I’m pretty sure it called Onion Ring weathering.

Thanks but it’s a bit of a drive for me but you never know when I’ll find myself in the gong next.
Been a while since I've been up your way, I spent two weeks at Kirra beach in 2014. We absolutely love it, we didn't want to leave the place it was magical, cheers.
Wow, those look really nice, I think they are like this because of water, but I'm curious how exactly did they form.
They are very unusual, I would have to agree with you that the water had something to do with it, cheers.
Seriously cool formations. Where did you see them?
At first it almost looked man made!
They were right on the waters edge of the rock ledge at Flagstaff Point Wollongong. If you follow this address, they were on the rock ledge in the middle of the screen, cheers.

Bugger me! That's where I've heard of them before. Many years ago, I used to live in Figtree and work in Warrawong. Now I get it. Thanks.
They are incredible rock formations! look like something you would find at a volcanic hot spring!
Yeah I thought the looked pretty awesome, That's what I suspect, some type of volcanic action which is then eroded by wave action, cheers mate.
Aliens. Obviously. 😁
I think you have been watching to much Star Trek choogirl, Lol Thanks for the visit.
Very, very cool. We do see similar patterns on river bottoms, even including a couple of the stones that carved them, sitting on the bottom of the depressions. Probably a relatively soft sedimentary rock carved out by tiny fingers emanating from the wave action. They resemble open pit copper mines as seen from the air. Everything is a miracle -- or nothing is.
Sound like a pretty good explanation to me, I was thinking along a similar line.
I like that line "Everything is a miracle -- or nothing is." Which one do you think? Haven't seen you around for a while, cheers mate
Actually I believe everything is a miracle; the sight behind the eye, sound behind the ear, the feeling behind the thoughts, action and inaction, free will, emotion and reason -- it's wonderful and terrible too -- truly awe-some.
We had a big blow (Hurricane Irma) just two months ago. Candle-lit dinners cooked on the camp stove. It does take you out of circulation a bit.
I hope you fully recover from your trials and tribulations dealing with this disaster and keep up the great attitude, cheers.
Quite interesting. What is the reason of this strange shapes?
I don't know nenio, I was hoping someone could tell me, cheers.
They look amazing, I'm going to have to find out how they became shaped like that or it is going to bug me forever. It has to be water patterns or tides or somethings similar.
That is what I'm thinking, tidal flows washing out softer material, thanks for visiting mumofmany, cheers.
