Jiri-san mountain in Korea is seemed as the mother of all mountains especially in Southern part.
The 3/4 part in all territory in Korea is the mountains.
So, In Korean primitive religion, the mountain god has a very important role, even there is the halls for the mountain god protecting the temples. It could be ridiculous the Buddhist temples to be protected by the mountain god.
Here, what I’d like to say is the important meaning of Jiri-san mountain. So, naturally there are lots of temples near Jiri-san mountain.
In this journey, I’ d like to come by Hwaeom-sa temple, because there is the one of the best 3 buddhist temples in Korean Buddhist temples.
It took almost 5 hours from Seoul by car. In Korea 5 hours distance is a very long way.
As arriving at the temple, I found some strange thing on the road to the temple.
There was no one pillar gate indicating the boundary of the temple on the road to the temple.
Where I found the one pillar gate was at at the wall of the temple.
Geumgang-mun gate was the next after the one pillar gate. As I posted in Magok-sa temple, it was not normal arrangement of the gate. The 4 heaven kings gate is usually the next gate of the one pillar gate.
Interest thing is that the Geumgang warriors of this temple was as same as that of Magok-sa temple.
Both warriors were closing their mouth. Usually one Geugang warrior opens his mouth, and other warrior closes his mouth. It means the beginning and the end of everything.
But in this temple of Whaeom-sa temple, both warriors are closing their mouths as same as those of Magok-sa temple.
Of course the reverse order of the gates between the Geumgang-mun gate and the 4 Heaven Kings gate was same in those two temples.

Awesome pictures and post. These colors are pretty!
Thanks for this sidenote about the open and closed moth fact.
I like it that asian cultures are using superstition aspects (without the negative attitude of "superstition") in there buildings, life and believes.
I love this part of the earth also because of the beautiful and mystical architecture.
Thanks for sharing!
Peace!

To be honest that 5 hours was indeed worth it.
The images are indeed wonderful and amazing as well.
Great to learn the information that 3/4 part of Korea is covered by mountain. Awesome learning post and great photography @slowwalker
Wish your happy journey in the platform and helping us learning more.
Great photos. I especially liked the combination of multi-colored foliage of trees and classical architecture.
Mountainous area has different natural beauties: rocks and stones, mountain rivers and valleys, it is great that such holy places were built at foot of mountains and surrounded by trees, I like evergreens, but now looking at these trees with leaves, that now have autumn colors, that bring the shine to cold windy and rainy days. It is really a long journey 5 hours, I hope the road have good quality.
The temple is beautiful, like that emerald or Turquoise colors ceiling. That color may be means something in your culture. The warriors are beautifully presented. Thank you for sharing this historical information.
Beautiful place and perfect collors! Asia has its charm! Greetings ☺
