Seriously, Put This in Your Pipe and Smoke it!

in #photography7 years ago

Plug.

Cured tobacco leaves are dried, then pressed together and heated before being stored.
This one is a highly dense little brick of tobacco, comprising various strains of Virginia leaf as well as that of Burley.

A plug tobacco takes some preparation, not simply stuffing into a pipe and lighting it up. It all depends on your preference; how you prefer to smoke it and the kind of pipe you're smoking it in. I've chosen to shave off pieces, resulting in something akin to, but not quite, a broken flake. It's suggested to cut against the tobacco's grain, but some may choose to peel off thin layers from the top of the pressed brick.

Some drying-out time is usually necessary with a plug; about half an hour should do it.
Aging potential with this form of tobacco is high, and this particular plug had already developed tiny sugar crystals while being sealed in its tin.

Additional information: Plug tobacco is also a sure-fire way to turn a blade blunt.

wow yea i like this

Really? Thanks! Pipe smoking is a somewhat niche thing, as much as the online community seems fairly sizeable. You should give it a try ;)

It looks like beef jerky. Yum lol

That's what my friends here in South Africa say, also :D Except, they call it biltong. Slightly different than jerky (better even, from what I've heard :P ).
It's yum when lit up, too!

It looks like it's potent stuff. Is it really strong?

Compared to the massive range of pipe tobacco there is, I'd say it's medium-strong in terms of strength. If you smoke it on an empty stomach, you're probably going to get quite a nicotine kick, but otherwise you'll be good!
It's full-bodied though, so the smoke's got a creamy, soft mouth-feel.

It sounds amazing, though. I wonder if they import it to the U.S.A. I'll have to check around.

They do! The name of this blend is Peterson's Perfect Plug.
I buy my tobacco from a US site, actually, and get them mailed to me. Check out:

The latter seems to have stock at the moment.

Sweet thanks for the info
