NYC tallest buildings - 30 Hudson Yards
Vertigo Warning - before I start this is another post where people who suffer from vertigo may want to skip as it has some looking up shots
This is my fifth post in a series of posts about the tallest buildings in NYC,
The first post in this series was Tower One World Trade Center
The second post was Central park Tower
The Third Post was 11 W 57th Street
The Fourth in the series was One Vanderbilt
The Fifth in the series was 432 Park Ave
And this post is 30 Hudson Yards

30 Hudson Yards peaks out at 1268 Feet, i is a super-tall mixed-use building in the West Side area of Manhattan. Located near Hell's Kitchen, Chelsea, and the Penn Station area, the building is part of the Hudson Yards Redevelopment Project, which is the largest private real estate development in the United States by area.
It was the third tallest building in the City when opened.

In these first two shots, you may note the triangular deck coming out of the building near the top, this is a triangular observation deck jutting out from the 101st floor. This observation deck, at 1,100 feet, will be the highest outdoor observation deck in the Western Hemisphere. (The Empire State Building's 102nd-floor observation deck, at 1,224 feet, is enclosed.) The view will offer new skyline views to the south and east of Manhattan, the surrounding boroughs, and New Jersey.

The Hudson Yards project has really transformed this area, it used to have a bit of a bad reputation but with this building and others going up there it has transitioned into quite an upscale area
I hope the first three shots were not vertigo-inducing but these next two maybe

I love the last photo and the reflections of the clouds in the building. It is a real beautiful building. This observation deck would be an interesting place to take photos, because it's open. I hope that no !DERANGED people will climb over the railing ;)
I wanted to ask, what these things on top of the buildings are, but a closer look told me, that it might be some crane/lift thing to hold the gondola of the window cleaners

Of the new buildings it is one of my favorites and yes thats a crane for the workers and window cleaners, must be a weird feeling being in one of those at that height, maybe one would need to be !DERANGED to go on them

I like such glass buildings, which reflect everything around. It must also look cool at sunrise or sunset.
No !BEER in the world could make me !DERANGED enough to step onto such a thing 😉
see thats shows I am !DERANGED I did go on one at our office building but not that high maybe 9 Floors only, but that was back when I did drink !BEER but I had not had any when I did it

MY timing was bad when I did it, my boss happened to do a rare visit to our building and looked out the window and spotted me on the platform LOL, but it was fine I am sure he thought i was !DERANGED
Yeah that is a cool thing about this token, and !BEER is also cool for those of us who do not drink real beer
If I did that and my boss would see me he would ask me if I needed some window cleaner, because my boss is somehow !DERANGED too 😉 lol

Wow, that is pretty impressive. I don't think I would want to go out on that observation deck though. It seems like the winds would be incredibly high up there. I like the gentle curve of the building as the floor progress. Nice shots!
I do like the design of this building, I may be crazy but if it opens before I stop working in NYC i would go and check out the views from that observation deck

They sure are impressive, but at heart I am a country boy but I have got used to the city and dont get overwhelmed by it as much as I did when I first arrived here
I think you should visit this observation deck and take some interesting shots :-)
If it opens before I stop working in the city I will for sure go and check it out, its meant to open in early 2020

No its a different one the Pencil is the fourth tallest this is the fifth Tallest ;)
I wonder if the designer was a member of the 101st Airborne Rangers and that is why they chose the 101st floor instead of the 103rd floor so there could be no doubt of being the highest "outdoor observation deck"?
Cool shots once again, I think I liked the last one the most, kind of reminiscent of the Famous California Redwoods Circle Picture of looking up from the ground to the canopy.
I did wonder why they picked that floor and that could be a reason I guess, but even if they built it on the 103rd floor no doubt one day there will be a higher one
yep, the need to one-up man-ship the competition. A few non military people might wonder, but I would think that there is a significance of the 101st floor, whether it is as I guess or some other reason. Still a nice view no doubt from that floor, and open to the wind and mother nature, It would be a cool place to visit.
Yes indeed I am sure there was some reason for it on that floor, hopefully one day I will be able to share photos from up there
That observation deck looks interesting.
If it opens before I finish working in the city I will go and check it out, its scheduled to open early in next year

Thanks I took some today trying out th wider lenses, I do love looking up in the city but dont share to many of the as some people get vertigo from them
