They are family. The one that has adopted me as his pet is named Willie (full name Wet Willie, he named himself); he is a double dapple miniature Dachshund, and I delivered him myself. So he is pretty spoiled; and gets away with way too much! Good thing he lets me share his sleeping chair!
We rescue Dachshunds, so I have a couple of rescues here too. Keeps life interesting. Have my first full sized one here now, they act just like the smaller rotten ones. :D
Oh I'm sure he could. If he is like mine, he will put it in his stomach first; to protect it though, ROFLOL! >:)
Not Mike! If I put it down, pointed my finger at it from a few inches away, and said, "No, Mike, NO", he would not touch it.
He would not guard it, either, but telling that ruins the image, so forget I mentioned that part.
I have Dachshunds, they would Not touch it, as long as I watched it! THEN it would be doomed!
:D
Then they would swear that some cat snuck in and stole it, while they were guarding it (not is so many words, LOL) like the good dogs they...aren't!
Well, I would believe a dog's story over a devious cat's any day! If they said they had to eat it to protect it from a cat, I could accept that.
Wellll, they do think that a cat makes a fine breakfast...I have to watch them carefully, LOL!
They are pretty spoiled, and get away with way too much; but they are fun, because they miss NOTHING!
:D
And that's the reason we keep them around and mostly let them have their way. If we didn't love them, we would not put up with it.
My rule for guests: My dog lives here and you don't.
