Gdyby ktoś powiedział mi parę miesięcy temu, że kawałek ostatniej zimy spędzę na drugim końcu świata, pewnie bym go wyśmiała. A jednak tak właśnie się stało.
Znajomy znajomego znajomego znajomego (+/- jeden znajomy) parę miesięcy temu opowiedział mi o możliwości wyjazdu do Australii, gdzie za pomoc w hostelu mogę otrzymać darmowe zakwaterowanie. Brzmiało jak marzenie! Trochę z dozą niepewności napisałam więc do odpowiedzialnych za tenże wolontariat, którzy zaprosili mnie do siebie jak do domu. I tak krok po kroku, dzień po dniu, zbliżałam się do mojej przygody...
Przed wyjazdem wcale nie było z górki: duży projekt w pracy, sesja na studiach, a żeby już całkiem wypełnić resztkę wolnego czasu, to pomagałam przy układaniu największych na świecie puzzli (60k elementów!). I w zasadzie dopiero po pędzie styczniowych wydarzeń, już na miejscu, uderzyła mnie myśl: "Julka, jesteś w Australii! Jak to się stało?!".
Sama nie mogłam w to uwierzyć. Ale kiedy tak jechałam wybrzeżem Oceanu Południowego, wiedziałam, że jestem w dobrym miejscu. Że spotkam dobrych ludzi. Że zobaczę wspaniałe rzeczy. I że czekają mnie przygody, których nie potrafię sobie nawet wyobrazić. I to wszystko się spełniło! Ale o tym - po troszeczkę - następnym razem...

If someone had told me a few months ago that I would spend part of the last winter on the other side of the world, I would have laughed at them. Yet, that is exactly what happened.
A friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of mine (+/- one friend) told me a few months ago about the possibility of going to Australia, where I can get free accommodation in exchange for helping at the hostel. Sounded like a dream! So, with a bit of uncertainty, I wrote to people who were responsible for volunteering there, and they have invited me so kindly. And so, step by step, day by day, I was getting closer to my adventure...
Before leaving, it wasn't all downhill: a big project at work, a study session, and to fill the rest of my free time, I helped with putting together the world's largest puzzle (60k pieces!). And actually, only after the rush of January events, being already there, the thought hit me: "Julka, you are in Australia! How did it happen?".
I couldn't believe it myself. But as I rode along the Southern Ocean coast, I knew I was in the right place. That I will meet good people. That I will see wonderful things. And that adventures that I can't even imagine await me. And it all came true! But about that - a little bit of each - next time...
