RE: Maneesh Sethi: Upgrade Humanity. (Can blockchain & cryptocurrency end the eyeball economy?) – Love Your Work, Episode 117

in #podcast7 years ago (edited)

I listened and enjoyed your discussion with Maneesh, but I struggle to understand how he could upgrade humanity with devices of $100+ and $200+... Am I missing something ? I'm a chain smoker and I really considered purchasing a PavLok, but when I saw the prices and given the fact that I'm from Romania and the price of getting such a device at this location could be $200-$300, I really don't understand the whole purpose of those devices and the whole "upgrading humanity" concept...

So I think what you're saying is that the device is expensive for you, and so it disincentivizes you to get it to try to improve your behavior.

Naturally, an electronic device costs money. For some people, the devices aren't considered expensive, and you have to start somewhere. Perhaps if and when Volts tokens have value, and with a higher volume of Pavlok users, the devices will become less costly.
