I was brought up on the Classics - art, music and writing, including Classical Forms of Poetry. They require patience, dedication and attention to every detail, because the rules are very restricting. In Classical Poetry, every single word must count. The following is Palindrome Poetry, or a Mirror Poem: A Classical Poetry format where you use the same words in the first half of the poem as in the second half - but reverse the order for the second half. Most Palindromes use a word in the middle as a bridge between the halves of the poem. That is the only rule I have not followed. It looks easy to write, but that is deceptive, as it must still make sense when the poem is reversed..
Rain Dances
Delighted is she, dances in rain sprinkles;
Clouds of platinum, the billowing mists—
Arms splayed and outward toes;
She goes around and around,
Skirts twirling with glee unrestrained
Unrestrained glee, with twirling skirts
Around and around goes she,
Toes outward and splayed arms —
Mists billowing, the platinum of clouds,
Sprinkles rain in dances; she is delighted.

Wow, you're an excellent poet. I really like the second half of this one best.
Thank you so much; I'm delighted you enjoyed this! Truth be told, I like the second half the best as well. It took an incredible number of hours to write this so that it flowed well and made sense both ways - I was writing from both ends at the same time.
I should give it a shot. People have said my poetry is good, but I do it mostly when I'm overwhelmed by something.
I'd love to read your poetry - let me know if you decide to take the plunge!
Well, I do post some, occasionally, but mostly freeverse. It suits me better. https://steemit.com/poetry/@markrmorrisjr/allegiance I can also write a mean dirty lymerick, although, after the Keilor debacle, I guess that skill is not much in demand these days.
Oh that's very clever. Very hard to do definitely. I believe really like the way it turns back on itself! And still makes sense
Thank you! Classical poetry looks easy if it's done properly and with a lot of thought ... but it really does take a LOT of thought, lol. I actually find classical formats easier to do than free verse (and I know how strange that sounds) simply because it's so structured and I'm used to structure. On the plus side, it's also extremely challenging, and I apparently thrive on that, hehehe.
Good post @jcedwards
So cute....:-)
Enjoy the life.....:-)
Thank you!
