When the sun rises
Above the roofs
And lights the tips
Of snow-dead branches
Gilding them with warmth
And you are sudden too
Like ducks rising up
From the pond
In winter
And veering
Off into the reeds
And it’s a mystery
How they know and
Where to go
In unison
As if they anticipated
My coming
And feign surprise
As you do
Though I see it
In your eyes
You already knew
As they do
You are always previous.

exactly!
Really beautiful metaphors, John...
Drawing from my own experience of observing the world, your words rekindled those vivid visualizations of light and color and motion the LORD has designed into creation.
And then tying them into the beautiful mystery of a woman with her moods and subtly but wonderfully deceptive pre-responses... :D
Grand! Well done!

a beautifully crafted response, my friend - of course it's God who's always previous, but sometimes I use poetic license and apply the same to demigoddesses :)
Merry Christmas@jhonjgeddes. Always nice your poems. In this , your leit motive closes the verses: you are always previous.Upvoted
