When the sea was collecting
precious tears
of ancient pine trees,
what did you see,
a forty-million-year-old spider,
trapped in one of the tears
against your will?

What were they crying over?

Maybe you all
were contemplating
the evening glow
when the wiped tears
turned into amber.

I was born and had been lived nearly 30 years next to the Baltic sea, where 90 percent of amber reserves is concentrated.

I like your use of the word 'you' in this piece. It extends it outside of the subject and makes the reader take a look at his/herself. Mixed with the imagery, this approach is fun and a little sassy. 😎

oh, Steve, thank you for writing!!! I wasn't sure about the grammar, honestly, wrote to the Isle ) Maybe you could help me out? Could you?

To add just another small comment onto Steve's already wonderful critique/appraisal of this piece, I wanted to say how well chosen the title is! It puts a much more optimistic, sentimental slant on the melancholy of the lines themselves - turning something trapped into something kept and remembered. I get such a strong sense of memory overall, the world remembering itself in amber, the poet's own thoughts and memories finding a connection there. One of my favourites of yours, I have to say :)

Haha, Lazarus, I've expected the title to strike you)))) I know that this word is used by English people, not sure about Americans. I'm glad you saw optimistic notes in between of melancholies of the lines! And, oh wow!!!! You have a favourite piece of mine, haha, I can't believe it, because all I write seems silly to me...
Thank you for encouraging me!
