Life & Death Haikus: Golden Rule Of Hip Hop (Original Poem)

in #poetry7 years ago

Rap over Adlibs
But never over dubbed tracks
Perform only live...

Rapping over your own vocals on a pre-recorded track with vocals over your verses is unacceptable in the Hip Hop community. Many people get booed off stage for using crutches and handicaps during live performances because it makes it seem like the performer cannot rap the song and rely solely on their own voice to convey the song with full effect and impact. I always try to perform live and improve my delivery, vocal presence and cadence. If I ever use a song with vocals and break this rule, it is because I couldn’t find the instrumental in a time constraint situation lol but that is rare.

Thank you for reading & viewing this post in its entirety, I hope you enjoyed it for what it's worth.

I love that quote

The people who need change the most are the ones making it happen....

That's so on point....

Yeah, you’re right, that is indeed a favorite quote of mine I discovered recently. Thank you for noticing the inspiration.

nice post ! as an artist i definitely know what youre talking about. its a feeling that no one can take away from you when you perform your own track with the same passion and energy you had when you recorded it. the climax of that high is when everybody is actually rapping along with your lyrics.
i been making music for over 15 years now since i was 11 years old and growd to reep the benefits of it. i still have a long way to go but were definitely vibing on a good note... lol.
keep up the posting and if you have time reply me or follow me back. im new on steem! this is my first day! Peace!!

Hey thanks for reaching out and giving such a cool and insightful comment. I will have to check out your music. I look forward to your releases. I have posted many songs here on steemit and community is really supportive. I appreciate the encouragement and consistency and genuine originality will bring you far so I wish you nothing but success. Welcome to Steemit, I’ll drop by your profile. Steem on and Peace!

thanks man ! i appreciate that! yes im seeying what you posted! its 2:41 AM but im still scrolling hahaha! exactly consistency is such a big thing! of course nowadays for an artist it gets harder and harder because of all the cash wolves! everybody wants to get paid big amounts for less efforts. thats how i lost a lot of mixing and mastering engineers! when they see money they rather take then make it! but i still love what i do tho! arranging all the bookings for 2018! its going to get a bit crazy i gues! hahahahahah lol

You're welcome bro, I'll be on the lookout for your future posts. You should enter into the Steemit Open Mic Contest or other rap challenges here on Steem so we can all emcee and cypher together.

I admire anyone who has the stones to perform live. Having been classically trained, my husband says I'm a singing snob. It's one thing to have vocal backups to enhance a show. It's entirely different when one lip syncs and tries to pass it off as a live performance.

Hey my friend. Yes that is true, it is commendable to perform live. But those who don’t put forth real effort and lip sync or rely on audio assisted illusions are not taken lightly in performing communities. Haha classically trainer singing is indeed a skill, but I don’t think that qualifies you as a snob. Snobiness is defined by ones’ attitude and you seem pretty down to earth.

Oh yes, I'm very down to earth but mess with the Star Spangled Banner and I tend to want to rip their throats out. I'm a traditionalist in that sense. LOL And anyone who commands decent money to attend their show better sing in key. I admit it. I can be a snob. heh. :P

Haha touché. Yes anyone singing Any Country’s National Anthem should do so to the best of their ability and not slaughter the melody and slide in pitch all over the place. I can be a very tough judge, making my judging for the Steemit Open Mic Contest easier when we listen to 100+ entries each week.

More power to you, love. I don't think I could judge a music contest. My mindset has to stay in enjoying the music instead of picking out the thing(s) that may put them in the rejection pile.

Thank you for the power. I completely understand and know what you mean. I still find a balance between appreciating and nitpicking lol
