How painful it is,
To say "Farewell",
To one whose journey,
Is of no return.
How mournful it is,
To wave an unwilling hand,
To one whose depature,
Is so calamitous,
To spur some spurious tears.
How unreasonable it is,
To prepare a sleeping place,
For one whose deep sleep,
Is far beyond the waking hour.
How cruel is this thief,
That stole my candlestick,
When my dark dark night,
Demands a beaming light!
