RE: This Is Me (An Original Poem)

in #poetrylast year

if only
for a moment,
ease the harshness
of this world,
cause time to slow,
and the fragile blossom
of bliss to bloom,
sometimes we tell ourselves we'd
trade all of our tomorrows
to stay there forever

I know this. Not only for a moment, but for long term too. When I have a bird (either a Harris's hawk or a falcon), he/she gives me the biggest love, enjoyment, happiness and peace of this world. My only real enjoyment, happiness and love in this world.

I can relate. I never realized how much companionship and love our beagle gave us until he was gone. It's not that we didn't appreciate him when he was hear but rather underestimated his contributions to our family. There's a real void in our home now but we refuse to get another dog until we're done with our overseas travels. Us being away from the animal for such long periods of time wouldn't be fair to the dog.
