To my Ginger
Some broken memories
Hidden within these brain trees
All the things I have seen
Make me who I've turned out to be
Sitting here in this plastic garden chair
All I can remember's your soft ginger hair
The feelings I had for you I wish I shared
I wish I had told you I'm here and that I care
No you've left me all alone
Stuck here in my home
Looking for love, only finding dry bones
We both knew you had to go
It's been over a year since you left
You left me thinking I was dead
About a month or two after
You contacted me. Damn I missed your laughter
We had a fight a few weeks later
About how the universe was just another hater
Again we took our break
Lasted more than six months maybe even eight
You messaged me again
To apologize and tell me I was what you're missin'
I wish you weren't a world away
Even though we talked every day
It sucks that I can't see your living flowing face
All I can think off is this stupid space
You really don't know what you did
When you left without even saying bye
I felt like I had lost something that day
My best friend, My love and My will to cry
Turned me to stone you did
Removed the moistness from my eye lids
I hope that one day we'll meet again
Because girl you are what I'm needin'
You told me something strange the other day
How you looked back at the photos of our stay
You told me they were nostalgic
You sent them to me and I felt like I was living them
I looked no longer than a second trying not to feel again
That glimpse opened my heart
It felt inside like you gave me a kick start
I remembered just how clearly we stood on that field
I gazed into your eyes they were like my shield
I couldn't believe that I let you go
All cause you thought I was messing with another hoe
You were all I wanted
Right from the moment I put my arms around you
I realized that on the bus
When you lay your head against my chest
I had shivers, it was the best
Your hands were so soft and pure
I knew that I wanted to be the one with you next year
That never came
But I am so grateful of the time you gave
You gave me a few months of happiness
Everyday was a day of loveliness
I just hope you know
Even though we are continents apart
You will forever be in my heart
Even though I might not see you again
Just remember you rewired my brain
And showed me a small portion of heaven

Your poem touched me, I could feel your pain, I am 70 years old and there are memories from 50 years ago that still hurt.
Memories are there to stay for a life time.
It will always be the pain in the back of our minds
Even at the end of our days
We will always remember our pain :)

I am no mind reader but I felt like I had to get this off my chest today, it is normal to express yourself in anyway, I hope that you will have more comfort than what I had. It really sucked to be so alone and so useless... I am here if you need it ☺

Ethan, that was a beautiful poem, filled with love, memories, regrets, pain. It shows that in the end, you are now at least able to appreciate the fact that the relationship "showed you ( me) a small portion of heaven." Always cherish the good and forgive the bad. That is the way to heal.

A reminiscence going wild,
Of the happenings you had with her really wide,
Of the gaze and touch that were melting,
Of the emotional skirmishes that were renting,
You long for her.
A world apart with her is a mess,
Wreaking havoc beyond what you can sense,
You long for each other despite being far flung,
That is love beckoning from the ladder on the second rung,
Reach for her and she would reciprocate,
A love is worth the mess if she would replicate.
