Grow old with me, The best is yet to be.
42 years my friends!
It’s hard to believe we’ve been married that long. We’re both pretty blessed to have found one another. I can still picture the day he asked me to marry him…he had just graduated from college; I still had another year to finish. He didn’t want to leave! Of course I said yes!
Strawberry Crepes…
a perfect way to celebrate the day. You remember, I shared this recipe in my last post…[](https://steemit.com/powerhousecreatives/@birdsinparadise/healthy-eats-or-cacao-protein-
Pleased he was!
Time to hit the road to burn off a few of those calories! As we rode, I found myself smiling at the memories we share. We were young; he was 22 and I only 20 years old. Some said it would never last!
Faith and family…
has always been the glue. Trust, honesty and loyalty along with a lifelong commitment to one another, we believe in one another. Easy? Nope!
I was famished…
after our ride so we decided we would celebrate with a lunch date. We enjoy good Asian food so we’re always trying new spots to find the “perfect” chef. Mr. Bird had done his research and according good old “Yelp” the reviews were favorable! It was off the beaten path which was fine; hopefully we had found a diamond in the rough! Hunan Chinese Restaurant!
We were welcomed…
with cute décor, very clean and inviting! Since we arrived just after lunch hour there were just a few guests in the dining room.
Chinese Zodiac?
I was born in the year of the monkey, Mr. Bird the year of the horse. Evidently I am very intelligent and enthusiastic and he is attractive and impatient? What? We got quite a chuckle out of this, I must say we have both learned to work around our “differences” over the last 42 years. As they say, patience is a virtue! lol
Decisions, decisions…
we both knew what we wanted, I ordered General Tso’s chicken and he was excited to order Moo Goo Gai pan. Our Wonton soup arrived quickly! I have to say it was delicious.
Eggrolls next…
so fresh and hot! It gave us time to reminisce about the past 42 years, my how they fly. We have two amazing daughters with families and who knows what the future will bring.
General Tso..
Arrived and my goodness, definitely enough for two! They asked if I wanted spicy, well of course I do!
Moo Goo Gai Pan too!
Just what he ordered! Lets just say I was pretty lucky to get a picture!
What a wonderful meal and a beautiful day, celebrating 42 years with my husband, my best friend! As you know, we’ve traveled a lot of miles together and plan to travel many more! The best is indeed yet to be!
I think we’ve both agreed to Growing Old Together!
Thanks for stopping by today!
And as always, blessings to you all!

Happy Anniversary!! How sweet it is! To have your best friend for 42 years living with you? I count that as a true bonus!
I love your story although you better change it as you said he was 22 and you were 2. I got a giggle out of that.
It sounds like a perfect recipe for a loving relationship. Lunch looked great and I agree, yours always looks better! I would have picked the General's too! Have a great day and throw me one of those crepes!!!
!tip
Well, I always said he robbed the cradle, lol Thanks for the catch Denise, that was definitely a typo... We are blessed, but you know how time flies!! The day was a nice one, food good but you're right, the crepes were better! ;) Have a wonderful day, enjoy some fantastic sunshine!
Thank you!!! I am still laughing. :)
Happy Sunday!
ah, wow, well done! 42 years is quite something. I've been married for four years and I'm amazed at how quickly time has passed.
Isn't funny how all Chinese restaurants look the same the world over? You'd swear you were in Sea Point, here in Cape Town!
While there is no dish called "General Tso's" here at our restaurants, I have heard a lot about it online, so I found a recipe and made it one night - totally delicious, but I have no clue if it tastes correct or not, having never had the original 😂
I always look forward to your delicious posts xx
You're the best @princessmewmew, congrats on 4 years for you!! When I think back to that time it makes me smile! Time does fly indeed! I totally agree with you, Chinese restaurants do look the same everywhere!!!! I often giggle about that one, the artwork, the serving area... all the same. General Tso's has to be done just right. I have only found one place that cooks it the right way, unfortunately not here!! We have often thought about going back to that city just to have it. Slightly crunchy chicken, spicy with a light slightly sweet sauce. I have made it as well, but I haven't gotten the chicken just right. I think I'll have to try again. Love hearing from you, thank you my sweet friend! xx

Thank you @soundanvision! I'm glad you enjoyed it, it was a special day and fun to share with you all!
Congrats! Sounds like you found the perfect "recipe" for a successful marriage! Glad you enjoyed a day to celebrate and reflect on the years together.
I couldn't help but notice my BF is a horse, too! I'm a dog. Loyal, generous and stubborn. Haha. Kind of funny to note that at least a horse is supposed to be a good match for me. 😉 Gotta love an entertaining place mat!

Thanks Katie, yes hard to believe it's been 42 years time does fly! Love the placemat, we alway get a kick out of those. Hilarious to think every 12 years another year of monkey's will be born...lol hmmmmm. I can't imagine you as being stubborn, lol Good to know you've met your perfect match
I love Chinese cuisine and the General Tso's chicken grabbed my attention. Our country has a lot of Chinese and Spanish influences when it comes to cuisine. Chinese is my favorite and fortunately we have a lot of authentic Chinese restaurants in our area. Oh by the way Happy Anniversary to you guys. Wish you more beautiful years ahead together.
I would love to have authentic Chinese food, I feel like much of what we have is processed and not always healthy. This was pretty good, nice for a special treat. General Tso's is nice when the chicken is slightly crispy and the sauce is light, sweet and of course spicy :) Thank you for your sweet words, he's a pretty special guy, definitely a keeper!
That looks like a lovely anniversary you had!!! 42 years? That's awesome. My parents were married just over 40 when my mom passed!!!!

Thank you @deadgrlsuppastar, it was a fun day. 42 years sounds like such a long time but when you're raising children and working it really flies by. I'm sorry to hear your mom has passed, a horrible loss for you all.
Happy Anniversary WOW that's an achievement and a great way to celebrate it both with the bike ride and good food
Thanks for being an active member of SteemUSA !tip

Ohh yes it sure does fly by for sure
General Tso! Definitely one of the best!
Congrats on 42! A very special number indeed

Thank you @jeffjagoe. I love General Tso's Chicken, although I'm still looking for that light, slightly sweet spicy sauce...this was close to it. 42 years does seem like a big number, but it has certainly flown by! :)
Wow. That is total love ♥️
Aww, thank you @vannfrik, I appreciate that. Time and life flies by, before you know it 42 years have passed. (I'm pretty lucky to have found a very patient, loving guy who overlooks all of my flaws, lol)
Understanding is the major key. Peace ✌️♥️
