Is It Really Possible To Communicate With Plants? 🌺

in #powerofplants7 years ago (edited)

It seems that we all are deeply connected to the stunning colours, nature paints for us. I see so many beautiful posts with flowers and trees, especially for "Green Thursdays".

I can never get enough to see this kind of beauty and my votes go out for most of those articles.

"Plants exist in a state of profound existence and peace in themselves" -  Bob Makransky

Studies revealed that plants may have the ability to talk to each other and respond to human conversations.

The concept of plants benefiting from human conversation can be traced back to 1848. German professor Gustav Fechner published a book called Nanna or Soul-life of Plants. His idea became popular and has inspired many researchers to take a closer look at the scientific evidence that plants can really respond to human conversation.- Source

Can they feel us? What do you think?

Plants might be smarter and much more interactive than we thought. We might not associate a term like "behaviour" with them but maybe plants do behave and lead sedentary and even solitary lives.

You may not think of plants as particularly chatty or active organisms, but they’re not as passive as they might seem. Plants can’t run away, so they have to develop other strategies to stay alive, as James Cahill, an environmental plant ecologist at the University of Alberta, explains in “What Plants Talk About,” a documentary from the PBS show NATURE. They’ve evolved the use of chemicals to communicate with insects and each other in order to thrive.

Here I found an article 5 ways plants communicate

Plants >>>>

- can call for help

- can eavesdrop

- can defend their territory

- can recognize their siblings

- can communicate with mammals

The hidden power of plants

I still keep dreaming that I could talk to flowers and animals. I would be so interested to know their secrets, especially how their medicines can heal our diseases. Just imagine for a minute if we would understand DMT- The Spirit Molecule much better.

A study suggests that talking to plants could encourage them to grow.

So Prince Charles was right - you should talk to plants, scientists discover by David Derbyshire
Asked about his habits in the garden he replied: "I just come and talk to the plants, really - very important to talk to them, they respond."

Plants already have an armoury of senses to help protect them against predators, disease and the weather. All plants react to light, with sunflowers tracking the movement of the sun across the sky every day. Others 'feel' strong winds and stiffen themselves against buffeting. Maize reacts to the 'taste' of a particular caterpillar saliva by releasing a scent to attract a parasitic wasp. The wasp lays its eggs inside caterpillars, which hatch and destroy the host from within. Injured tomato plants can even 'talk' to other plants by releasing a chemical warning signal into the air. Any tomato plants in the vicinity respond to the signal by releasing their own chemicals to deter attackers or attract insect predators.- Source

Once in Bali, I was told that I am a double fire personality, same as my mother, who only keeps dry flowers at her home. It might be the reason why they can't survive around us. Hmmm.....

I remember the sadness I felt as a child when the once, so stunning, colourful joy in our living room landed in the garbage can. I sneaked up to collect some leaves to keep the memories in-between the pages of some books.

I never liked those artificial decorations she bought instead, collecting too much unwanted dust and the energy always feels stuck with dead flowers around.

Every time I wanted to beautify my city flats with blooming plants of the season, it usually didn't take that long and they would dry out.

I ended up buying a lot of those tiny cactuses instead, the only ones who would survive my heated energy.

My favourite well known coyote San Pedro Cactus, from the psychoactive species, would accept me for who I am:) and just recently I had the opportunity to experience the healing with mescaline. Read a brief history of this magical plant.

Sacred Plants And Natures Vaccine - Why Do I Believe In Healing With Kambo Frog Medicine.

My Bali Houses were the perfect environment where I could truly enjoy touching them without them crumbling under my "hot blooded" energy.

They grow so fast in a tropical climate and brought so much happiness to my daily life. Medicine to my soul.

My buddies for a daily meditation.

Every morning I would collect uncountable flowers and fruits, falling off those trees.

I miss that!

I believe that its true that plants communicate through a secret language we only need to learn.

Flower of Life, a symbol of Sacred Geometry

The Flower of Life is the modern name given to a geometrical figure composed of multiple evenly-spaced, overlapping circles, that are arranged so that they form a flower-like pattern with a sixfold symmetry like a hexagon. The center of each circle is on the circumference of six surrounding circles of the same diameter.

I was having a great feeling with my cherry tomatoes... till one day a snail or more than one... decided to eat the whole plant :( sadness

I spent weeks to see the plants growing from the seeds

@webdeals I feel you! the snails ate seriously hundreds of my little seeds.. I couldnt understand why? from my whole green garden they eat just a tiny baby canna leaf. Its not animal friendly but a little salt does the trick..

Thats so sad and make feel so bad

awwwwwww!!!! it's so hard, i cry when that happens

nothing we can do :( I was so sad but so pleased when I saw the plants growing

Oh dear Do I know that feeling 😜

that's horrendous :( my girlfriend was kidding me for days.... I don't know if was the snail eating the whole tiny plants or a cat :(

I think plants have been an equal or greater force in shaping my current perceptions of the world then people have had. There is no doubt they are alive, well, and intelligent in a way that is inherently different from us.

If anything, it's so exciting to see the anthropocentric trappings of hubris falling away from our faces, seeing that idea that out of the whole world, ONLY WE are intelligent. ONLY WE can communicate. How exciting is it to begin to understand that we are surrounded by intelligence, beauty, and awareness that is SOO different from us that we've been completely and utterly ignorant to it for a while (at least some of us, and quite a bit of us during the industrial revolution).

Thankyou Mammasitta!!!! Don't stop!!!

What a wonderful comment. I couldn't have found those words of my believes myself. That's exactly what I tried to provoke! This is the perfect answer!!!

awwwwww!!!!! thanks mammasitta!!! I can have 1 internet snuggle now?? :P

Hahaha, I can throw over a few cents if this can replace any snuggles and hugs

/PUUUURRRRRR!!!!!

MEOW!

Wow! I only had time to watch the first video (PBS - What Plants Talk About), but it seems that science is confirming the belief I have held for quite a number of years. All living things can communicate. The bacteria in our guts talk to our brains and animals talk to other animals without the use of words or telephones. We are all connected.

#floweroflife yes we are connected!

You have to see the DMT- The spirit molecule one

Strassman's book is fascinating, too, and it's available on Audible.

I will check it out . Thanks so much for the suggestion

I watched the DMT video instead of working on my next post which is a game that everyone is welcome to play (whales, dolphins, minnows and redfish). The video was very different than what I was expecting, however it does reinforce my personal belief that we are much more than a living lump of meat and bone.

Now I must go to sleep and I'll work on the game tomorrow.

I am glad that you watched it. We need to be open minded what governments don't want us to know. There is huge power/medicine in plants. I am not sure if you also read the previous stories( links) about this topic. I am looking forward to your next post. Good luck and I hope you got a nice sleep.

Having an open mind is the best way to learn! I only watched the 2 links on the page so far. I'm having difficulty keeping up; there is just so much I want and need to do that I cannot manage it all.

I got 7 hours sleep, so not bad. Will create my game post now. Thanks!

OK, will try to watch that too. So much really interesting stuff you post!

I feel great seeing your great posts..as usual. Steem on mama...with all that fiery energy!

My energy is floating away pffffff I just lost a new article due to a crash. I better go for a nice swim tomorrow 😜 Cool to see you again here

😂😂 you want to go cool down. Its great seeing you too ma'am🙋

What an interesting post! I can feel you because I used to have a small garden in my house when I was a kid. It was hard to explain as a kid then but I always felt so connected with plants and trees that I thought I can talk to them. " Mediation to soul" , as you said, where I found peace even though I just simply stood nearby looking at them .
Very nice photoes. I love your Bali garden

What a sweet comment. Thank you for telling your story. It feels good to connect with other "plantwhisperers".
I see you are new here and based on your comment I am sure you will tell many nice tales. So, I follow you and can't wait to read your articles. 🐬

Yes. My first comment on Steemit is for your post. Hehe. Thank you and look forward to your interesting articles :)

That's incredible! Many more to come. You deserve my nice gifts for you to get you started.
I will help a bit if I find a very special article of yours. 😇

Woa. Thanks a lot for your kind words. It encourages me to start soon 😊

Absolutely... It's when they start talking back you have to worry!!!

Hahaha Tell me about with Ayahuasca. Damn ! I got slapped left and right

yeah no kidding!

Definitely some of the most utterly terrifying moments of my life have been centered around having a plant talk to me =) and I wouldn't trade them for anything

Same same same ! Mother Earth connects 🙃

I think it's like when you pray... It's talking to God. When He talks back, it's schizophrenia!

Hmmmm ....I had some intense conversations

I promise not to tell anybody!

Hahaha like I would care if somebody knows 😝

Ooooooooh @mammasitta
you always have the best content.
What a great post in so many different ways.
You never allow us to leave without learning
something interesting and helpful.

Wow! Your words sooth my heart! I am so happy because that's exactly what I aim for. What a cool image! Thanks so much! 🦋

I love your story. I think that the plants can hear our voice. I also have small garden made by my father, I also take care plants with my father. I often observer flowers and swipper "you are beautiful".

love this post. I think it's amazing how plants can communicate with insects and each other though the use of chemicals, all in the spirit of survival.

Check this out

Nature’s superstars are animals like chimps or cheetahs. You think plants are just as amazing. Convince us.......
What can plants do that cheetahs can’t? They can regenerate when 90 percent of their bodies have been eaten away. They can have sex at long distances and communicate with approximately 20 more senses than an animal has. Those are very pragmatic arguments. But I think they’re valuable just because they’re there. We tend to judge plants not as autonomous organisms but in terms of what they can do for us. But they’re astonishing in their own right and deserve to be given the same ethical status as animals.

I agree plants are fantastic. But... I think it would be hard for people to give plans the same status as a creature they can see move and hear make sounds.
A bird chirping or a dog barking seems much more lively than a silent still plant.
And then their's the knowledge factor, not all people know the in's and out's of how plant life works and how amazing plants really are.

I agree but somehow I compare with introvert and extrovert humans. Some are loud and some are more quiet. Same with me the louder one, compared to my daughters more introvert personality. Both are unique and special.
It was really interesting to research this topic.

interesting.

call me crazy but I talk to my plants all the time... some even have names :)

I'm wondering if somebody does not talk to their plant? I do it constantly

I am too hot blooded for them and as I wrote they usually die on me. I might be too harsch or loud or who knows why. Too intense but in the tropics it worked so much better

Make that 2 lunatics hahaha

Beautiful photos, @mammasitta !

I think that plants and fungi are conscious. There is only a little bit of evidence to support this claim now, but I feel confident that more knowledge will come to light about the inner lives of plants in the coming years.

So nice to have you back.
I might be a lunatic but I can understand and hear them :)
I know that some think we are all nuts.
Very cool article :

Plants are capable of solving problems and learning from past experiences.
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/2016/02/160221-plant-science-botany-evolution-mabey-ngbooktalk/
I think that seventies generation believed plants were not only intelligent but conscious, which is a dramatically different thing. What the new botany is suggesting is that plants are sensitive and problem-solving but bypass the need for self-consciousness and brain activity that we assume is necessary for intelligence. People who think this are often accused of being anthropocentric, believing that plants are behaving like humans. The philosopher Daniel Dennett marvelously riposted that critics of this theory are "cerebrocentric," believing intelligent behavior is not possible without the infinitely superior human brain. What the new work shows is that plants, by means we do not yet fully understand, are capable of behaving like intelligent beings. They are capable of storing—and learning from—memories of what happens to them.

"Is It Really Possible To Communicate With Plants?"

... yeah with RoundUp - lol ;)

Hmmm, I'm not sure if I understand the meaning of " roundup" . What's that ?

Ooops sorry - was not thinking it is named in the US different. In fact I was refering to Glyphosate. RoundUp is just a brand name for it from Monsanto - lol.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glyphosate

Ohhhh got ya ! I am in Vienna at the moment and missing out on some English vocabulary or words. All good now 🙃

ohhhhh - gibts jetzt aber ned, haha :)
Ich muss mir jetzt echt Deinen Namen merken!

Ach Du .....Sprichst ja Deutsch agrrrrr .....

Nice, upvoted and followed :)

Just did ....nice to see new faces here

Whalepower tag vote applied!

As a devout vegetarian I sincerely hope plants don't mind! :D

Is this ok to add this tag here?
That's a funny question. We both should learn their secret language and find out 😌

That's how I found your post, why not? :)

Oh superrrrrr!!!!

I mean discuss that with @bullionstackers. It's his initiative, rules and everything. Mutual support as I understood it!

Yeah I spent some time reading about it. It's great when we help each other

Oh it's so chill to just watch the plants and listen to music. I don't know why but all thoughts and feelings go away... oh yes
Maybe if i talk to them it will be even better? hmm.. :d

I read that plants react to music and sound. Did you know ? I feel the same because when plants are around me I just feel great and music of course

Are you sure that they react to music?? No way, i'll have to check it out.
But i have the same feeling.. especially when i'm alone and there is only nature around..
It's sooo great and relaxing.

I need to look it up and post it

Well... looking at your last posts and how informative they are.. seems it took a lot of time to find all info that can pick interest and place everything properly.
Just dont overwork too much heh :d
I won't hurt myself looking for them on my own.. :D

It's just fun to research and share info combined with my own experience. Thank you so much for your kind words of appreciation.

Yes I think kind vibrations from a gentle nurturing person gives the plant a lot of good energy, I actually do hug trees (don't care if that makes me odd) we have a few trees local to me that actually bleed red gloop, they are famous for being the most abundant producers of the red sap. I think it's happy as it's hundreds of years old. Good energy from the tree back to my soul.

I never tried hugging trees but I kiss my flowers 🌺. That makes us 2 weirdos hahha

Being a weirdo is always better than being part of conventional sheeples lol

nice to meet you from the tree huger to the flower kisser <3 x

Sweet to know you !

Nice read Sylvie, you got some good stuff! See you around the island x

Thanks much and good to have you back. You have been gone for a while it seems.
Do you live in Bali?
I am in Europe for a while

Yup, still here and getting back into the events biz. Last one was at your venue, it was Mos Def remember? 4 years ago.

OMG OMG :) For Sure I do remember :) and this deserved a 100% up vote hahaha can't believe it's you. Didn't realize at first @pulpworx

Boom! That's it right there, blast from the past :)

I quit the biz but zillion of memories in my heart

The Hidden Life of Trees: How They Feel, What they communicate - Discoveries from a Secret World

by Peter Wohlleben

Nice to see you here and yes, I will check it out. I am reading since days about this topic. I just can't understand why most of my plants I get here in Vienna die on me.
Thanks much for the suggestion and I hope all is well on your end.

Do you remember which plants you have gotten that died? I'd be happy to try to help :-)

In my cityflat most of them die 🙀
I might overwater them because there is enough light . I decided to wait until I'm back in Bali. Thanks for your offer ☺️

Plants do communicate!

I regret eating plants.

Hahhaa oh well catch some fish #justkidding

Nooo... I'll have start eating dirt :P

I have noticed that plants respond positively to music and calm conversation and negatively to anger and sharp noises.

Many plants thrive in white-noise environments and few plants grow where it is nearly silent.

So, yes. I think we can learn to communicate with plants.

I think It Is. I've had them respond to through movement.

I filmed this off my pc with my phone. It's from a path I walked in Florida. This was there.

Can't see your videoclip. Would love to

Thank you. It's playing on this end. I had the same thing happen before. I hope my posts are working? I took it off "private" and transferred it from youtube. Anything?
this was the weirdest day

I wonder if it's not the act of talking to plants making it grow better. Maybe they grow because of the carbon dioxide coming out of your mouth?

Haha, Oh well .....I believe they are for sure more intelligent than we might think.

u might be right...I am open to that possibility as well :-)

Great!!
