It smells kind of like maple syrup, but I only have one filament that really is noticeable and it smells exactly like maple syrup. It's fun printing that one as it smells good. I only print PLA/PETG so there is no danger with the fumes. ABS and some other materials you have to use an enclosure with filter and vents.

I don't know what my friend was printing with, but it smelled awful. It was a couple of years ago and I hope I wasn't inhaling something bad.

Likely ABS or something, that stuff is toxic. It's also a pain in the ass to print with.

PLA is made from corn, PETG is the stuff water bottles are made of.

Damn. Good thing I didn't stay there long!
