Hi thanks @tdctunes; it's good to be here :) Hivean I think is probably unconsciously influenced by Whovian.
I picked the clarinet at the age of 11 when we were given free lessons on orchestral instruments in the last year of primary school. I had spent my childhood playing recorder, and was of the (mistaken) opinion that the clarinet was the logical upgrade. Actually, that would probably have been the flute, but je ne regrette rien!
Hey! Excuse my dumbness but what is a Whovian??
I guess a lot of people pick up instruments in school. I played the oboe and played in the school band. I was ok but not great and I think my true love was always for making music with electronics! I do love hearing (and making) music mixing 'classical' instruments with electronic ones though - I'm currently experimenting with a Piccolo sample in a track I'm working on.
Good luck with Hive - it can be a bit of an overwhelming one to start with but well worth it. I started about 4.5 months ago and now it's my primary goto online community.
A fan of Doctor Who!
Thanks - I keep looking at electronic wind instruments, but there's something about the sounds that isn't good to my ear. It might be because I don't like the preloaded sounds, or simply that I prefer the actual clarinet/sax/recorder sound. It's not the same instrument really. I suppose it's a synth marketed to wind players.
Oh of course! I should probably have known that!
Interesting about electronic wind instruments - I think you probably have the right idea that they should be treated as a different instrument - one with very different possibilities though!
Looking forward to reading your posts on Hive and hearing your music...
