@myindigoinsight thanks for your comment and taking the time to read my article :) Yes , while the construct may be applicable i to hoomans, unfortunately it can be far more difficult to execute in real world scenarios. this is because we are far more deceptive in our interactions with one another, when poeple say "how are you ?" we usually respond with "fine" or "good" instinctively, when we really are having a bad time. this is not deliberate but a conditioned response.
we have been conditioned to hide our thoughts, feelings and emotions as it is not socially acceptable to be open with one another, it can be considered rude to say what you really think, politically incorrect etc. We design rules of engagement with one another which mask our true selves. with ineffective communication progress can be difficult, with misdirection it can be near impossible. Adding to this the emotional value and reactions and it is a mine field, lolz.
Yes we do have the ability realize these behaviors and factors within ourselves and make changes , however, our ego plays a big part in avoiding this realization. Part of the hooman condition is that we dont like to feel or think we are wrong.... so we lie to ourselves to avoid cognitive dissonance.... and the cycle continues....
ah yes far too conditioned to hide how we truly feel!!!! My latest blog is about my battle with depression & anxiety and is a real life personal account of what you just said basically!
Animals are free from that conditioning though, you are correct. My cat is so lovable one minute, then in the next she can swipe at you as if to say bugger off i am not in the mood anymore! And there is no filtering of that process, oh i might offend the hooooman, or i may get punished, it just is. We can't be that way and be in line with social etiquette at the same time. How sad eh?!!!
all we can do is the best we can to represent ourselves as authentically as possible, the societal structures may discourage us from doing this, to hide our emotions and make things far more complex, but we do have the choice.... but it can be a very difficult thing to do
