Take A Break...

in #psychology6 years ago

Sometimes we need a break.

Sometimes there comes times we've pushed so hard for so long, we've become broken.

Sometimes life puts us through the ringer, we've ended up so disoriented & disheartened that we're bound to self-destruct if we don't exercise the compassion for ourselves and allow the time for clearing, healing, grounding, and finding the space in inaction from which our vision arises.

We've become so indoctrinated into a culture of movement & progress, it can sometimes seem difficult to give ourselves permission to take the time we need to "do nothing." Believing action is the key ingredient to a successful life - a dogma especially in the personal development world - it can be easy to feel guilty about temporarily checking out. Yet, some seasons require ours stillness. Sometimes the action we need to take looks like inaction. Sometimes, the next step forward is taking a break.

Sometimes we feel beat up by the way life's events unfold - and rather than marching on all macho-like, we need longer periods of rest for recovery. Sometimes our hearts get broken, and we need months of retreat to let the grief pass peacefully. Sometimes we're overwhelmed by confusion & frustration - and while movement will only stir it up further, slowing to a snail's pace may be what's required to find the clarity with which we can see how we need to better manage our energy. And sometimes, that clarity may only be found once we commit to and follow through on taking a break.

So often, we've persisted with strategies that don't work; yet convinced we need to keep active and engaged, fail to allow ourselves the required time to reassess what we're doing. Sometimes, we need to stop. Sometimes, we need to quit. Sometimes, we need to start over. Though regardless of which is called for, it's most probable we're only going to end up more broke if we don't take a break when it's time...

Sometimes we don't realize the baggage we've collected along our way - feeling its weight pull us down, though not wanting to fully face the burden we've created for ourselves by pushing forward on paths not taking us to where we truly want to go. The faster we've been moving and more weight we've accumulated & are dragging behind us, the greater it's momentum. Perhaps we've avoided stopping, not wanting to get squashed with the momentum of that weight behind us - (picture dragging a HEAVY cart at good speed then trying to stop immediately). Yet, the only way we can ever unhitch that load is by first taking a break. And the more time we take to slow down to avoid getting hit with the force of that emotion - the further down the wrong path we're going to end up.

Sometimes it's just easier to distract ourselves with busyness, rationalizing it as productivity. Sometimes it hurts like hell to confess how far off we've gotten from our intentions & desires - pain we can't avoid in stillness and silence. But sometimes, that reality check is what we need. Sometimes, the relief we are craving most can only come when we take that break to let go. And more often than not, we can only orient ourselves to true productivity and a fulfilling life once we've given ourselves the gift of the freedom to just be.

Sometimes, we need a break.

François de la Rochefoucauld used to say: "When you can't find rest in yourself, it's useless to look elsewhere. We live in a society that overestimates work, whoever is doing nothing is a person without a job, who wastes time. Time in our society is a currency, a luxury that cannot be wasted. That's how we were raised! We are people who live thinking about the clock and how to make the hours reach for everything. Stressed people, consumers of pills, junk food, quick kisses. Since when don't we watch a sunset, since when don't we smell a flower, since when don't we taste a good wine, a good meal, a good kiss? We don't have time! I always use animals as an example! See how they know when to withdraw, when it is necessary to isolate themselves to lick their wounds, when the weight on their back is too much and they get rid of it. If we love each other, we must give ourselves the opportunity to rest, we do not deserve them. I loved this text to end the day, @rok-sivante. Thank you.

I totally agree with you @rok-sivante.

I have been posting nonstop daily on steemit for over 9 months now and during these times, I have been having slight headaches and was taking drugs to cure it and it still didn't go.

But this recent down time on steemit made me not to post anything yesterday and I used the whole day to rest and Lo and behold the slight headache vanished.

So you are right, taking a break is really important in life.

Let me laugh first at the tag blahblahblah. Okay, now to what you are discussing here. I've always say it that there is an action in inactivity. If you check my blog you will notice that I'm just about to return to the active life here on Steemit.

It's is true that an unexamined life is not worth living. So, take out the strength needed to pull yourself out of the picture and look at where you stand at the moment. Alright man, go gather some strength for yourself. Good luck man.

Black Moon face is looking at you.

Man is currently working like a machine. The human robot is not there who does not need rest. In this part of the race, the man became so busy that it has become difficult for him to take time too. It has become so busy working and earning money that physically and mentally it feels very tired and then it remains. The reality is that we are continuously uninterrupted on this estimate, which starts to feel boredom, and tired, focusing on all the blocks without focusing on all the blocks, it means that we also need to rest It falls.
Life without breaks becomes cumbersome.

Thanks sir 🙏🙏

If we dont give ourselves a break we will breakdown. this is no new info again which we all know but the issue is that we find it difficult to take a break except when we are down either psychologically or physiologically. taking a break doesnt makes us look lazy but smart. it is a healthy approach to life. thanks for sharing @rok.

I take it as a good motivating post , Rok sir. Especially the phase that i am going through in my personal life....sometime life gets so harsh on you that you totally get disheartend ....failure, failure and failure.....that time many people wish to give up life. But as per my experince that is the time to hold life safely. Instead of giving up...it is a good time to think and build upon your failure...even if you do not succeed at least it give you peace....and you never know whzt is store in your destiny...

@rok-sivante, Yes, sometimes we really push hard and we tend to give pain to ourselves, and most importantly we forgot to give the pause and healing or breathing space, and it's really important because we need the refreshing time.

We are living in an fast moving world and here the most important aspect is, stay away from the distraction and sometimes we fall for the world of comparison where we give more pain to us and inturn which push us downwards.

There may rise situations which will going to push us towards outside phase of our peace, and this is the phase where we have to engage in the stuff which we like and which give us more fun and lite essence.

It's really better to follow stop-reassess-reattempt and instead of continue-continue-continue without any assess-quit. So we have to analyse our actions so that we can get more effective results because in that way we can adapt new strategies.

Thinking of relief is not an option, you are not getting relief because you are not changing your routine, sometimes letting go is the best thing to attain more effective results and for sure we can get the sense of peacefulness when we let go.

Wishing you an great day and stay blessed. 🙂

Blahblahblah! I love that tag. I might just use it myself!

Fuck. I think I was onto something with the idea of trademarking tags here... 😈

Anything is possible! It might become a thing here on steemit. Just charge people...ha ha ha

Or better yet, if could create some sort of smart-contract app requiring to pay upfront for use... 🤔

(Although there might be a headaches discerning boundaries of “ownership” on generic tags... probably all too much trouble, all-in-all.)

I'm enthusiastic to join the movement

True @rok-sivante.

It reminded me my competing days where I pushed hard to long. Break is needed but it is hard to do that when you are involved with all kinds of things.

Sometimes i see break as something you have to engage in, when you have accomplished you mission. But i thinks that is not the right thing. Base on what you said it is always good to go for break if you find out that your strategy doesn't work. Thanks for the knowledge

I upvoted your post.

Dude.

You revealing that you’re using multiple spam bot accounts for your self promotion is pretty sad.

Slightly less shady that you removed your bullshit compliments. But still pretty sad. 👎👎

apa kabar sister, postingan yang mencerdaskan pembaca. :) Thank @rok-sivante

Sister...?

You know I’m a MAN, right...?
