That local group is extremely useful, unfortunately, but I do have to grit my teeth before checking responses to any questions I put on there!
Hive just isn't place-based enough to give me the kind of utility the Portugal Facebook groups do.
One thing i have noticed about Facebook is that it makes me want to bait people - there's so much angst - even that question i put up about a solar pump got someone going (moaning about another reply that was too utopian) but that just makes me want to wind him up, which in itself isn't good, only on Facebook.
There's another group called 'British in Portugal' which is basically an anti-Brexit group cunningly disguised as an information group - that's a really unfun place to spend any time, thankfully really not that useful which makes it easy to just not go there, although it served its purpose this time last year at least.
Something else i've noticed is that some of the admins of these groups have something of a god-complex.
It really is a bizarre platform.
I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not but I don't think you can even compare it to Hive.//??
