RE: Why am I on Twitter? The answer will SHOCK you!

in #rant7 years ago

What went down yesterday was mind boggling to me. to recruit good users we need to be honest. I too am from a marketing and sales background. Started when I was very young, and I love it. But a good product or service doesn't need to be misleading. And when you don't tell the truth it ends up biting you in the ass. I have always been an ethical sales and marketing person. I will not lie about a product or service period, because in the end that makes me untrustworthy. @overkillcoin keep doing you honey, you do you great....

Agreed, to always be completely one-sided isn't good. I have my followers and I have my haters, but what if I changed to be acceptable to everyone? Then I'd be too bland to be followed by anyone ☺

Thanks so much for your support. There's safety in numbers when dealing with trolls!

Oh and PS if you want to delegate any of that my way when you get it back, I would put it to good use.

This really really made me smile, because while it's the normal things to do... Many maketners today don't do it.

I have never been comfortable with lying about services or products period. If the product or service is good, you don't need to lie. And if the product isn't something someone needs then personality comes into play. Honesty gets you way more friends and support than dishonesty, plus lies are hard to keep track of. The truth is much easier... I once had a sales job where the trainer was training me to lie. I went to the boss an hour later and said I want to try it on my own, and I just told the truth. It was a door to door magazine sales job, I traveled to all 50 states selling magazines and was a top sales agent because I told the truth. I told people it was my job, I didn't lie and say I was doing it for some college (if you are from the US you have had to heard that dirty lying spiel at some point) People couldn't understand how I was selling 20+ subscriptions a day while they were lucky to sell 7. The truth goes further, and if you can't tell the truth about the product or service, we likely shouldn't be buying it anyways.
