Let's get right into this!

Yesterday, someone "got up in my face" about my Twitter posts... Essentially accusing me of talking about things that should be hidden from the public - Stuff that "no one cares about". Well, my friends and I must be 'nobody's! I have a blockchain mindset, not an executive boardroom mindset. I write, unrestrained, about the ups-and-downs of Steemit while I'm on Twitter. I don't sugar-coat, but neither do I spread FUD. Why am I so real and not a purveyor of propaganda? For starters, I am from a marketing background and I am all too familiar with how FAKE it is.
This "wonderfully" intrusive person told me that I was a bad marketer. No, you paragon of intelligence, I'm not a marketing drone — I am real. I've been around the lame, phony marketing industry for a decade and I've had my fill. I doubt you're truly proficient at marketing, but you may have read one book too many, making you an "instant authority".
But seriously, thanks for the unsolicited judgement call. Nice one. You doubled-down after I tried to defuse the situation with humour. Grumpy cats should not tamper in the affairs of dolphins.
I am on social media for my friends/followers
Everything else is an afterthought — Don't like it? Block me.
It's embarrassing to have to explain this. Social media is for being social — WOW! I could market Steem in the traditional sense if I wanted to —and market circles around my haters. Do you think, after more than a decade in design/marketing, that I want to work overtime? Am I not allowed to be real without being badgered? Am I not permitted to serve the Steemit community MY way instead of fitting into a particular mold that suits your narrow concept of usefulness? Am I a pariah for making social media about my friends and followers — and being genuine with the public about my daily grind on Steemit?
The best "advertising" is someone who cares for the community

If the whales followed my example, it would result in news-worthy headlines.

You confuse my "being off the clock" with inability to market properly. Let someone else paint a rosy picture of Steemit, I'm in the trenches doing something about the problems.
Content-wise, I've provided 15+ custom illustrations for the community without asking for ANYTHING in return. Not even a minnow upvote. Not even a resteem. I wish I could do more. I wish I had the time and bandwidth. If I were to have created these for paying clients, I'd have made thousands. I'm not the best artist, but my fans like my work. If they found out that -gasp- I wasn't a "good marketer", I'm sure they'd ditch me and follow you instead.
Finally, I've inspired more people to take a stand against spam. Enough is enough. What YOU call petty "whining" is my way of bringing awareness to a problem that drove some good people in my real-life circles away from joining Steemit in the first place. I'm surprised you didn't understand my motivations, you know, being "God Junior" and everything. Because of me (and others like me), a lot of minnows are asking, "What can I do to fight back?"
I am a real person, and I don't fit your stupid specifications. I'm not your employee. Go away and attempt to push someone else around. Steemit and Twitter are my backyard barbecue, stop trying to turn it into a contrived, solemn assembly of straight-laced marketing prudes. Want to be formal and stuffy in your meager attempts to build Steemit? Fine, but stop policing someone who's actually getting things done.
My followers know, I don't like to talk about accomplishments...
But this ray of sunshine drove me to it.Conclusion
I didn't get up to 2,000 followers by being tame, lame, dry or stuffy. I got there by being myself, and I will remain myself without having some sour-grapes nag school me on how best to represent Steemit. I intend to attract more classy, yet refreshingly irreverent jerks just like myself to this platform. And you're going to LOVE how it changes Steemit for the better — whether you admit it or not!☺
You tell them! I'm about to resteem this! :0
You have collected your daily Power Up! This post received an upvote worth of 4.32$.

Thanks for resteeming. I really don't like trumpeting my 'accomplishments' or whatever, but goodness, this silly, sour and shallow "you're not doing it right" just really got on my nerves! ☺
You are a big reason I actually decided to stay in this community. Before connecting with you, the platform seemed dry, cold and not genuine. As you can see I stayed and met some really cool people but I was close to not even coming back.
I had no idea all that you have done. You really don't need to answer to anyone.
I don't know anything as a newbie but I would think exposing what exactly goes on here would be more beneficial in the long run. As opposed to shoving everything under the rug. Future investors and genuine new steemians can see through the "everything is perfect over here" fodder. Uh oh....they pissed off overkill....
: )
I'm really impressed by that. It's crazy how one post a day and some comments can make the difference to keep a new user around!
I think I know what you mean, on one end, there are the steem celebs, on the other, the steem dregs... Authenticity is a rare gem ☺
How long were you here before you decided to commit to staying?
There are cases to be silent or stand up... I just don't think someone should repeatedly snipe others without being answered in clear terms...
Yep - it's helpful to hear all the problems - but to know (for the most part) it's worth it...
AGAIN!!!!!! 8^]
I joined Steemit after researching Steem as a coin I could invest in. Loved the premise and after lurking a bit....signed up.
I will say, as a new user the layout of this platform is rather confusing. The trending and hot tabs are the first things people click as a new user and what you find is pretty disheartening.
I found very quickly that the individuals that hang out there are “hero’s” that don’t even respect or value communication with their “followers”. Just like society...,you had your kingpins, gangs of thieves who feed off the system, tons of homeless begging and spamming for a handout and of course hardworking, talented and frustrated groups of people who are struggling to get by but enjoy what they do. You have helpers and saviors, celebrity newcomers and even a dark NSFW alley way. I didn’t expect all this and was turned off at first. I felt bad for the truly talented. Such a grind I could tell.
I was only on for a few days before I found your post. I have no idea how. I believe by hitting the new tab because that’s how I would find interesting stuff. So it was pretty much luck. Lol.
You actually responded. And around the same time....a few nice people were receptive and I got hooked. : )
I can absolutely agree with your comment, my experience with Steemit was very similar at the beginning.
I signed up in August 2017, looking for an alternative to facebook and of course was inspired by the idea to have found a network where the users are a bit paid for their content and images.
Ok, I looked around at Steemit, did some postings, commented on some posts, but got absolutely no response except a few arrogant answers.
I somehow had the feeling of having landed in an art cult or sect.
The top of the pyramid is a closed circle where normal members will never get access, I speak from personal experience, I was (or am still, passive) member of a so-called secret society. I sometimes have this impression of the closeness of this circle on Steemit.
I must say that at the time I did not have the time to get involved with Steemit and to look for all the necessary things that are important to Steemit, as I do now.
Luckily, I sometimes, though rarely, meet people like @overkillcoin here on Steemit
Nice to meet you @tinylayla have a good day
Back in August, I have very fast stopped posting. Fortunately, now I have more time to deal with all these things.
Nevertheless, this first impression did not leave me, here are some heavyweight members where not even a detailed commentary on their postings answer and that is sometimes frustrating, as well as to get attention for own postings.
who give me the feeling here are also normal people at home.
Anyway, I'll keep trying my best here on Steemit, we'll see. But the other networks do not sleep, soon there will be more opportunities for people to be rewarded for their own content.
I also hope the makers of Steemit recognize this and will take the right steps to keep the members.
I felt like I should reply to this, it's a major comment!
That's great that you found this place independently, I signed up because of an invite.
Yes, it's just such a swarm of overwhelming info, a chaotic mess. People seem to have to find content they like by digging or stumbling onto it.
Whoa! This is deep. You should turn this profound comments into actual posts! What are you waiting for!
I see you've been following some of the people I'm following as well, that's great. I try to keep my follow list trimmed up.
Gotta run - have a great day!
That is bullying! Not cool. I feel for you.
I'll just keep making funny rants about it and PROFIT ☺ ☺ ☺
Step One: make funny rant
Step two: ???
Step three: PROFIT!
There's no need to think of "Step 2", the community will do it for you.
Haha good point, community for the win!
Step two: Wing it??
I was just going for an underpants gnomes joke. ;)
Oh okay - I'm not up on South Park, that's why!
Hey, @overkillcoin! I'm new in steemit but, i really like this post. I think that people who hates for no reason deserves posts like this. Im also very impressed with your account, I hope someday to make my account that succesful. Peace!
Hello @kelvisalbarran - and welcome - I hope you like your time here. My guess is that no social media site is perfect, but a lot of the people who have persevered here are starting to see some good benefits. It's worth trying out!
The way I see it, is people should be smart enough to know that (in some situations) their opinion is not needed, and to stop being pushy and pesty :) !!!
AUTHENTICITY?
YES
BEING DAMN REAL?
YES
FUNNY?
YES
Stuff anyone who wants you to act different, not be yourself...
you know how great I think you are so no need to stroke your ego anymore! ;)
Hahaha... Someone finally understands me!
I'm just glad for that. I don't like talking about myself much. It's just tiring to be screeched at for shallow reasons.
The whole core of my social media existence is being real with y'alls.
Wow what the rude person! I guess they have to be everywhere to mind other people's business.
You have 2000 followers, that means this many people knows and loves what you do and who you are.
Of course that include me! No matter what happens I will support you my friend 😊 can I call you my steemit friend? I hope you do not mind.... you are the closest friend I have on steemit💕
Yes, this is fine, friend ☺
I'm not the only one who looks at your blog and your comments and thinks you deserve more followers! Sometimes discord chat or steemit chat are okay places to make connections. Although, probably takes time and patience like everything does...
I think social media is for resting from the troubles of the day and speaking what's on your mind! Not being boxed-up ☺
Does anyone logically expect a crazy artist to act professional on social media all the time? It just can't work that way ☺
And - sorry if I've fallen behind on comments, just really busy...
Love the integrity brother 🙏🏼
Genuineness is to a large part a rare breed, even here on Steemit, the person nagging you is merely someone throwing pebbles at a "giant" like yourself.
Lions don't lose sleep to the opinion of sheep.
Don't think I've stumbled across your page before but if you happen to be into travelling, vlogs, fitness, self-development etc feel free to check out my channel, in any case, keep being real and spread the good vibes brother 🤟🏼
Thanks @williamwest - are you new here?
And... that's a great quote... ☺
Been here only a little bit over a month so yes I would still say I'm quite new to the space 🙏🏼
Glad you enjoyed it my friend!
Hey @overkillcoin. I can't exactly remember how I came across your profile but I'm very glad I did. You are a very unique blogger here. Seems like you truly stand up against anyone who's trying to fill Steem with trash. Like you mentioned here and I've also witnessed it, you've taken a truly inspiring step to motivate minnows and inspire everyone to give to the community. I think because of how genuine you are, you keep your followers around. Every person, especially if they're successful, will have haters that want to bring you down or try to hurt you. This just means you're great at what you do.
I haven't been too active these last few weeks due to heavy load at school but I wanted to stop by and get some @overkillcoin 's blunt humor dose 😂
Thank you for the sincere support @cabernet. Sounds like you've been very busy at school, though, thanks for deciding to stop in ☺
I really hope I inspire more free delegations! If SP becomes a little more accessible for new or struggling bloggers, it will more than just encourage them, I think it will improve Steemit's image... Investors would feel more comfortable putting their money on Steem if it's a little more evenly distributed.
As far as the hater(s), it's just incredible how some hone in on a small issue and make it THE issue. I do rant and rave, but with purpose and with a heart.
Have a great week!
Wait so I get to flag someone for you. Just point me in the right direction :P.
Try not to let the trolls drag you down.
Look @overkillcoin you've got your own sort-of virtual bodyguards!!
hehehe
I hope I won't need them though! ☺
Hopefully by now this person realizes that pestering me is a useless endeavor... Keep your flags for the spammies haha... ☺
Wow. Thank you for doing such kindness on minnows. Hope more whales will be like you.
I hope so, I think the more generous the whales become, the more investors you'll see here. Just a thought. ☺
I like twitter a lot better than Facebook. I just followed you.
Thanks! Me too, Twitter moves a lot faster. Have a great day!!!
From the post you made, I learned or learned something new that I did not know before. I'm a very good fan of you, I read all your posts. Your posts are very good to me, and so I hope we will be happy to post you for us. The information that you have on this post is very useful for many of us. So I hope your post will be very helpful for us....
Flagged for Clickbaiting...
Hahahaa... Mock clickbaiting... Proving once again that I'm a bad marketer (hangs head in shame).
of-course you are allowed to serve steemit your way as every steemian should do
@hatemmkh thanks! That's what I plan to do!
Stay as you are, otherwise I have nothing to laugh in the morning, hehehe
I'm so funny I could make the entire nation of Thailand laugh!!! ☺
hahaha, I think so....
Woah 😳
Favorite line by far
Lmao talk your ish bro ahaha who ever was getting on your case is real trash smh! You’ve done more to this community compared to 95% of the dolphins and whales on here! Real economies real and we got your back 😤
Well I try to see the humour in most situations, I just figured it was important to spell things out for future troll-bosses. Just because I've accomplished some different things promoting Steem doesn't mean it's a job and I'm some used-car salesman who only has great stuff to say ☺
Why some use social media for steady promotion, without having any personal say, is beyond me.
Thanks!!!
You've worked really hard here, I admire your tenacity and being such a big part of the community while slavin' for the man!! You're quite the juggler!!
Thanks much @lyndsaybowes—
But but but, I'm not smooth and refined (tear drops form) What am I going to doooooooooooooooo? XD
Hhhh some people are just jealous lol Dont mind! You are doing a good job and supporting many people here and one of them is me :) Beside a good marketer, you will be one of the best Whales that are out there :)
I can't image being a whale, really ☺ Maybe a little orca, but even then I'd have to increase steem more than 5x ☺
Thanks again @hanen - and I'm always glad to help!
well said, they don't like you they block you. And also good quote you are like blockchain were there are know hidden things, everything is transparent
Yes, if I was going to invest time or money into something, I'd like to hear both sides of the story. That's why I tell both sides of the story ! ☺
I like that,well said
What went down yesterday was mind boggling to me. to recruit good users we need to be honest. I too am from a marketing and sales background. Started when I was very young, and I love it. But a good product or service doesn't need to be misleading. And when you don't tell the truth it ends up biting you in the ass. I have always been an ethical sales and marketing person. I will not lie about a product or service period, because in the end that makes me untrustworthy. @overkillcoin keep doing you honey, you do you great....
Agreed, to always be completely one-sided isn't good. I have my followers and I have my haters, but what if I changed to be acceptable to everyone? Then I'd be too bland to be followed by anyone ☺
Thanks so much for your support. There's safety in numbers when dealing with trolls!
Oh and PS if you want to delegate any of that my way when you get it back, I would put it to good use.
This really really made me smile, because while it's the normal things to do... Many maketners today don't do it.
I have never been comfortable with lying about services or products period. If the product or service is good, you don't need to lie. And if the product isn't something someone needs then personality comes into play. Honesty gets you way more friends and support than dishonesty, plus lies are hard to keep track of. The truth is much easier... I once had a sales job where the trainer was training me to lie. I went to the boss an hour later and said I want to try it on my own, and I just told the truth. It was a door to door magazine sales job, I traveled to all 50 states selling magazines and was a top sales agent because I told the truth. I told people it was my job, I didn't lie and say I was doing it for some college (if you are from the US you have had to heard that dirty lying spiel at some point) People couldn't understand how I was selling 20+ subscriptions a day while they were lucky to sell 7. The truth goes further, and if you can't tell the truth about the product or service, we likely shouldn't be buying it anyways.
Anyone who speaks ill of you is probably sick...or rather seeks your attention
Well I have plenty of faults @jemimah — but when I'm criticized for free speech, it really bothers me. Especially when I ask them to please go away and they won't.
We all have faults. One who doesn't like your statements should stay clear from your handles on socialmedia..simple
You're a good guy my friend, don't let anybody tell you different. You don't live to please other people. Try and avoid the negativity if you can.
Thanks double-K. My main thought is that it's not cool to be all up in someone's business. I always give others ample breathing room if they disagree with me, and it will be a better world when more people do this as well. ☺
You go overkill! Insta-fakeness is what's going to make folks leave algorythm run zucker-punch platforms in droves for DA REALNESS.
That's what I love most about steemit.
Only a matter of time, do you dude!
I'm very professional at being unprofessional ! ☺
positively proficient at it!
That's a cray cray! Whale wars, aggrandizements, bitconeeeeectttt, spammers galore etc. someone is critiquing your twitter account? Ha ha... its such a joke... keep doing what you're doing boss!!
I know, right? I thought crypto was the wild west and not the town library lolz...
I like the way this is dragged out. Whatta mess.
Thanks guy! ☺
All I can say is I empathize. I'm just keeping out of it these days.
If people don't like you as you are give them a present..
Nearly choked on my water... Wow... you always know... just... what to say?
You gotta be careful with that water..
Like that time I drank two gallons in four hours and could barely move!
You have collected your daily Power Up! This post received an upvote worth of 3.85$.

Ah Twitter, that is something I couldn’t ever get into. I guess I just have a lot more to say than 140 characters (or whatever it is now). I’ve been finding, and this is so frustrating for me, that I can only do one social media well at a time. When I was on hiatus from Steemit I was on FB posting a daily dribble of images and a blurb about my day (the stuff I’ve been posting here as catch-up). I got great response on Facebook. My friend, @greenacrehome, convinced me it would be good for here. Hahha not so much good response for Steemit. But now I’m doing poorly posting on FB! I guess I’m a one social media at a time type of girl...
Back to your rant, sorry, the other thing that frustrates me about Steemit, and all social media is the unsolicited advice! Haha it’s something jay I’ve got to get used to, but your situation is much more frustrating. I guess some people just don’t have anything better to do than knock down others.
We are unconventional peoples, you and I. We don’t march to the beat of the same drum, that’s what makes people like us great! Not doing things the way people expect. We find out solutions in a different manner and I think that’s rad!
Oh I hate fB. I have some people I'm following, so I won't leave it 100%, but if I really did well on here, I might reconsider... Twitter has less characters (280 now), but more of a conversational flow (or flame war flow if you have people thrusting their unsolicited opinions on you).
It's just nutty.... I get that my tweets/posts aren't for everyone, but that's what the block/mute button is for... For someone to step on my territory and boldly assert that I'm posting content that, "no one cares about" is entirely suffocating and asinine!
Or maybe I'm just wired funny, haha... I should have learned from the start to play on my strengths, it's taken a lot of trial and error to get anywhere in life ☺
See it's even been that long that I don't know anything about twitter now! Hahah.
You're right, I don't understand why people comment upon something that seems to make them so upset? Just scroll on folks, it's so much easier.
From the post you made, I learned or discovered some new information that I didn't know previously. I'm a decent fanatic of you, I read every one of your posts. Your presents are great on me, thus I trust we will be glad to post you for us. The data that you have on this post is exceptionally helpful for a considerable lot of us. So I trust your post will be extremely useful for us.
Hi Spam-Ditz, your spam is actually pretty funny. Wish I had my SP back so I could flag you into a smoldering crater though XD
I did not know that you need SP to flag people!
You don't, really, but to have an effective flag, it helps to have a good amount of SP :)
