You are a big reason I actually decided to stay in this community.
I'm really impressed by that. It's crazy how one post a day and some comments can make the difference to keep a new user around!
Before connecting with you, the platform seemed dry, cold and not genuine.
I think I know what you mean, on one end, there are the steem celebs, on the other, the steem dregs... Authenticity is a rare gem ☺
As you can see I stayed and met some really cool people but I was close to not even coming back.
How long were you here before you decided to commit to staying?
I had no idea all that you have done. You really don't need to answer to anyone.
There are cases to be silent or stand up... I just don't think someone should repeatedly snipe others without being answered in clear terms...
I don't know anything as a newbie but I would think exposing what exactly goes on here would be more beneficial in the long run. As opposed to shoving everything under the rug. Future investors and genuine new steemians can see through the "everything is perfect over here" fodder.
Yep - it's helpful to hear all the problems - but to know (for the most part) it's worth it...
Uh oh....they pissed off overkill.... : )
AGAIN!!!!!! 8^]
I joined Steemit after researching Steem as a coin I could invest in. Loved the premise and after lurking a bit....signed up.
I will say, as a new user the layout of this platform is rather confusing. The trending and hot tabs are the first things people click as a new user and what you find is pretty disheartening.
I found very quickly that the individuals that hang out there are “hero’s” that don’t even respect or value communication with their “followers”. Just like society...,you had your kingpins, gangs of thieves who feed off the system, tons of homeless begging and spamming for a handout and of course hardworking, talented and frustrated groups of people who are struggling to get by but enjoy what they do. You have helpers and saviors, celebrity newcomers and even a dark NSFW alley way. I didn’t expect all this and was turned off at first. I felt bad for the truly talented. Such a grind I could tell.
I was only on for a few days before I found your post. I have no idea how. I believe by hitting the new tab because that’s how I would find interesting stuff. So it was pretty much luck. Lol.
You actually responded. And around the same time....a few nice people were receptive and I got hooked. : )
I can absolutely agree with your comment, my experience with Steemit was very similar at the beginning.
I signed up in August 2017, looking for an alternative to facebook and of course was inspired by the idea to have found a network where the users are a bit paid for their content and images.
Ok, I looked around at Steemit, did some postings, commented on some posts, but got absolutely no response except a few arrogant answers.
I somehow had the feeling of having landed in an art cult or sect.
The top of the pyramid is a closed circle where normal members will never get access, I speak from personal experience, I was (or am still, passive) member of a so-called secret society. I sometimes have this impression of the closeness of this circle on Steemit.
I must say that at the time I did not have the time to get involved with Steemit and to look for all the necessary things that are important to Steemit, as I do now.
Luckily, I sometimes, though rarely, meet people like @overkillcoin here on Steemit
Nice to meet you @tinylayla have a good day
Back in August, I have very fast stopped posting. Fortunately, now I have more time to deal with all these things.
Nevertheless, this first impression did not leave me, here are some heavyweight members where not even a detailed commentary on their postings answer and that is sometimes frustrating, as well as to get attention for own postings.
who give me the feeling here are also normal people at home.
Anyway, I'll keep trying my best here on Steemit, we'll see. But the other networks do not sleep, soon there will be more opportunities for people to be rewarded for their own content.
I also hope the makers of Steemit recognize this and will take the right steps to keep the members.
I felt like I should reply to this, it's a major comment!
That's great that you found this place independently, I signed up because of an invite.
Yes, it's just such a swarm of overwhelming info, a chaotic mess. People seem to have to find content they like by digging or stumbling onto it.
Whoa! This is deep. You should turn this profound comments into actual posts! What are you waiting for!
I see you've been following some of the people I'm following as well, that's great. I try to keep my follow list trimmed up.
Gotta run - have a great day!
